World Cup fever is here and the 2018 World Cup is set to start on Thursday with the hosts Russia playing against Saudi Arabia. There are some good fixtures lined up for game week one. Portugal v Spain, Croatia v Nigeria, Brazil v Switzerland and Germany v Mexico are the pick of the games. Brazil come into the tournament as favourites and are looking good to go all the way. They've improved a lot after dramatically being knockout by Germany 7-1 in 2014.
With game week one set to kick off we've taken a look back at the 2014 opening games and the goal scorers from each game. In the group stages there were some surprising results. The most memorable being the Netherlands dominant display against reigning champions at the time Spain. Spain came into the tournament having won the three previous major tournaments. However, they completely collapsed in 2014 and failed to get out of the group. The Netherlands beat them 5-1 and went on to finish third.
