The transfer window is one of the most exciting times for football supporters. We see our club linked with a whole host of players and it's intriguing to see who ends up making the move. Signing players is usually an extensive, drawn out process, especially when it's clubs in the top flight trying to get players to come from around Europe and the world. But in some cases clubs opt to go for people they already know and re-sign players they've already worked with.
Over the last few years we've seen some players make surprising moves back to former clubs, with buy-back clauses now a common part of the game. European clubs usually put these in contracts for younger players who they sell, giving them the chance to bring them back at a set price should they be a success. One side who's done this regularly are Real Madrid, and they're rounding off the 2018 summer window by doing so. Julen Lopetegui's side recently announced a deal to re-sign forward Mariano Diaz following a productive 14 months in France with Lyon - where he scored 20 goals in 42 games.
Mariano's £30m return to Real Madrid has got us looking at other various deals which have seen players return to former clubs and we've put together a little quiz to test your knowledge. We want to see if you can name these 35 players to return to former clubs, with some slightly obvious and some not so! Name as many as you can below in the allotted 10 minute time limit and tweet your best effort into us @FootyAccums - we'll RT the best efforts!
