Since the Premier League’s inception in 1992 we’ve seen some of the worlds best players come to our shores. The likes of Eric Cantona, Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Luis Suarez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba… The list goes on. We could spend all day listing some of the world class players we’ve seen ply their trade in England’s elite competition. The players who score all the goals grab most of the headlines, but they don’t hit the back of the net so many times by doing it single handedly.
Assisting goals isn’t an easy thing to do and it takes a lot of skill to do it consistently. Very good vision, creativity and an excellent football brain is needed to do this consistently and it’s shown in the Premier League all-time statistics.
There’s been just four players to record over 100 assists in the top flight as opposed to 26 who’ve scored over that figure. Some of the names on that list are up there with the most illustrious ones we’ve seen the grace the game in England and there’s some slightly surprising ones.
