5 League Two/One Tips for the Weekend - 15/01/22

Both Exeter City and Scunthorpe United have drawn 10 times in the league this season, which is the joint second most in the league. Exeter, however, are ninth in the table, whereas Scunthorpe are down in 23rd, having only won three times this season. Exeter themselves though have been struggling as of late, losing seven of their last 10 games in all competitions.

With the south west side falling far out of form, whilst Scunthorpe struggle for form to this day, a draw is a likely scenario, with both teams likely low on confidence to go out and try and win the match. A draw is a relatively decent result for both teams to try and build some momentum after their recent results as well.

Ipswich Town have had a fantastic start under new manager Kierien McKenna, winning his first two games, scoring five goals and not conceding a single goal, and it is suddenly helping their push for getting into the playoffs. Bolton Wanderers, on the other hand, have lost their last four league games and have slipped closer to the relegation zone.

James Norwood has been on fire in this time, scoring in each of his last four league appearances. He has switched between attacking midfielder and striker under McKenna, and with his great form and Bolton’s poor style entering this match, it is a likely scenario that he could score and help Ipswich win.

Scott Twine has been the breakout player in League One this season as he is scoring goals and grabbing assists in an MK Dons team that is pushing for promotion this season in stunning fashion.

Both he and the team are in great form in the league, and MK Dons have only lost twice in their last 11 games whilst winning seven times in that span. Twine hasn’t scored much recently, but his all-around play has been really good and it is only a matter of time that his goalscoring form returns.

Portsmouth are unbeaten in their last 11 league games, however, they have only played twice in the past month, which could be positive as their team could be well-rested, but it could also be a negative as it could take a couple of games to regain the form they had back in December.

The Dons have been playing a lot recently, mostly in low-scoring matches, making it a possibility their match fitness and team cohesion can give them an important win at Fratton Park.

Plymouth vs Sheffield Wednesday is an important match for both sides in terms of getting into playoff spots with the south west side level on points with teams in the top six, whilst a win would put Wednesday only three points behind them.

The Yorkshire outfit have been struggling recently, especially in attacking areas, only scoring twice in their last five games.

On the other hand, in four of Plymouth’s last five fixtures, they have scored under 2.5 goals, winning three games of them, and keeping clean sheets every single one. With Argyle coming into the game in much better form after beating Championship side Birmingham in the FA Cup, they are favourites to win the clash, where they usually keep the game low scoring with their solid defence this season.

Mansfield have been the most in-form team in League Two recently by winning their last five games, whilst also winning their last two games by a 3-2 scoreline.

Walsall, on the other hand, have been floundering around in mid-table, only winning once in their last five league games and they have also conceded three goals in each of their last two games. With Mansfield scoring three goals in each of their last two games, just as their opponent's have conceded three in each, it is likely that the home side are able to extend their winning streak, whilst scoring three goals in the process.
