Wednesday night sees Ajax face Atalanta at the Johan Cruijff Arena in a must-win game for the hosts if they are to progress to this season’s knockout stages.
Ajax have to win, otherwise, they’ll be playing in the Europa League in 2021, whilst Atalanta will advance into the round of 16 if they avoid defeat against the Dutch champions. The Black and Blues aren’t the typical defensively solid Italian side, as they play at a high-intensity, with Colombian striker Duvan Zapata being one of their key players to this.
The former Napoli man has five goal contributions in this season’s group stage so far, including a brace against Ajax in the return game at the Gewiss Stadium where the striker's brace cancelled out Ajax’s two-goal lead after the Italian side had fallen behind to first-half goals by Dusan Tadic and Lassina Traore.
If Atalanta are to get the point they need to advance, they will be relying on goals, as they have conceded eight goals in five group stage games.
