The 45th edition of the annual golfing spectacle that is the Ryder Cup takes place at the Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York, as Europe looks to retain the trophy after initially regaining the coveted prize two years ago. Europe's success was particularly notable, given that their team had undergone a significant upheaval in players joining the recently established LIV Tour.

The tournament was first introduced in 1927 as a competition between American and British golfers at Worcester Country Club in Worcester, Massachusetts, where the US won the inaugural Ryder Cup.
