Manchester City vs Coventry City - Man City to win
Manchester City will be looking to extend their 100% record in the Premier League this season, as they host Coventry City, who are yet to get off the mark under Frank Lampard in the Premier League.
Enzo Maresca has enjoyed two wins from two league games as Manchester City manager, following victories against AFC Bournemouth (2-1) and Crystal Palace (1-4). The opening game against the Cherries was difficult for Manchester City, but they eventually secured a late win thanks to a goal from Josko Gvardiol.
Against Crystal Palace, braces from both Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki secured a deserved three points, giving Enzo Maresca an excellent foundation on which to build in the coming weeks. City have lost only one of their last 21 domestic home games - which was a dead rubber against Aston Villa on the final day of last season.
Coventry City have it all to do after losing their first two games of the season. A 3-0 defeat to Arsenal on the opening night was expected, but a 0-1 loss at home to fellow newly promoted side Hull City was a major blow for the Sky Blues - even this early in the campaign.
Hull at home would have been earmarked by Frank Lampard and his staff as the most likely source of three points in the league calendar, so they know they'll now have to make those points up elsewhere, which will be far more difficult.
Brentford vs Sunderland - Brentford to win
Brentford have continued on from their first season form under Keith Andrews, to notch up four points from their first two league fixtures, as well as securing safe passage through the Carabao Cup with a dominant victory against Birmingham City.
The Bees head into this game with no defeats in their previous seven matches, whilst scoring first in each of their previous five. When the two sides met at the Gtech back in January, Brentford ran out 3-0 winners thanks in large part to a brace from Igor Thiago. Last season, Brentford only lost three matches at home in the Premier League.
Sunderland began their league campaign with a defeat to newly promoted Ipswich Town but recovered a week later with a narrow win against Fulham. The Black Cats have only won once away from home in their last four matches away from home, dating back to last season.
Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur - Nottingham Forest to win
Oliver Glasner’s Nottingham Forest side picked up their first point of the season, with a valiant display away at Anfield which saw the Reds come away with a 2-2 draw. Nottingham Forest were much improved in their performance against Liverpool having previously gone two games without scoring against Leeds United in the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
Glasner’s men face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, to which the home side has a brilliant record against. The hosts for this fixture have won the last four meetings between the two sides and last season, Forest scored six without reply across both league games, whilst also keeping three clean sheets in their previous four meetings against Spurs.
Roberto de Zerbi’s side are yet to produce anything worthy of what their cash expenditure would suggest this season. Tottenham Hotspur have lost both of their league fixtures, conceding five goals and scoring none
Brighton vs Leeds United - BTTS
Games involving these two teams were competitive last season, with Leeds and Brighton both winning one game each. Two of the last five clashes have also ended in draws, so these teams often play out competitive affairs. Both of these sides have also made similar starts to the league campaign, with both failing to win maximum points from their opening two matches. Last season, BTTS landed in 63% of Leeds' fixtures away from home. Additionally, there has only been 1 goalless draw between the two in the Prem in eight meetings. Both of these sides have scored in each of their respective fixtures this season.
West Bromwich Albion vs Watford - West Brom to win
West Bromwich Albion have not lost at home in the Championship since February where they were beaten by eventual league winners, Coventry City. The Baggies are 7th in the league after four games, with two wins, one draw and one defeat, scoring seven. As for Watford, the Hornets are without a win in their previous four matches and the visitors have picked up only two points away from home since the end of February.
Huddersfield Town vs Notts County - Huddersfield Town to win
League leaders, Huddersfield Town face the only other unbeaten side in the division in Notts County. However, the Terriers have won three of their four league fixtures this season, whereas Notts County have drawn three of their four league games, whilst failing to keep a clean sheet. Huddersfield Town only three times at home in League 1 last season and have conceded less than a goal per game so far this season.
Barnsley vs Stevenage - Barnsley to win
Barnsley have started the league season well, as the Tykes find themselves in 5th place after four games. The hosts for this game, head into this fixture with three straight victories and no defeats in their previous four matches in all competitions. As for Stevenage, the visitors were held to a dismal 0-0 draw against tipped strugglers Peterborough United in midweek. The away side are without a win so far this season across league and domestic cup competition.
Bristol Rovers vs Rotherham United - Bristol Rovers to win
Bristol Rovers are top of League 2 after four games. The Pirates suffered a shock defeat to newly promoted York on the opening day but have rallied back to win their last three, including two consecutive clean sheets. Rotherham United have won one of their four league games thus far and the Millers are without a clean sheet in their last six games.
