According to trainer Gordon Elliott, Croke Park skipped Cheltenham specifically to go for this race. He finished second behind Ballyburn last time out - five lengths head of Impaire Et Passe who reopposes today. His form looks very solid on paper, he's won two Grade 1s already, and is a stand out price compared to his shorter rivals.
Naturally Nimble is one of the few horses in this race who arrives fresh and with more potential. He won a good quality Grade 3 going away in December at Fairyhouse, while his last time out effort can be upgraded as the race wasn't run to suit. He was a winner on the Flat off a mark of 83, proving he has a big engine, and looks a great bet at Each Way odds today.
Ahoy Senor loves Aintree, running here six times and always finishing in the top three, with two firsts, two seconds and two thirds to his name. He's finished second in his race for the last two years running, and if bouncing back to the form he showed on his last two runnings here he would have every chance of winning against this field.
Constitution Hill was one of the big favourites who disappointed at Cheltenham, falling after before the race got into its final stages. This race could prove to be a match against star mare Lossiemouth, who he beat by over two lengths in December and is ranked 15lb better than in the handicap. He won this race when he last ran here in 2024 and can follow up here.
A trial run for the Grand National, being run over the same fences, and this is Lifetime Ambition's third run on this course having previously finished 4th in the Grand Sefton and unseated after being badly hampered at the 9th in the 2023 Grand National. He was rated 158 for that race and has shown consistent quality in points since then, winning both his starts this year. Rob James is a good booking, having previously won the Scottish Grand National.
Petit Tonnerre is off a promising looking mark at the moment, having fallen from a high of 139 to just 125 before winning on his penultimate start. The handicapper was generous in only raising him 5lb, and now he's got his nose back in front he looks the type to rise through the handicap quickly. He's still only 7 years old and carries one of the lowest weights in the field.
A Mares' bumper with the maximum 20 runners, Charisma Cat stands out. She's unfortunate not be unbeaten in all four of her starts so far, finding herself short of room when finishing 2nd in January, and that form comes in solid races including two Listed contests. The ground will be perfect for her today, her experience will help in this larger field, and she has every chance.
Our Lucky 15 tip for today's racing is:
We recommend backing it Each Way. A 50p EW Lucky 15 would pay £3,965 if all four horses win.
