              Liverpool vs Bayer Leverkusen Prediction

We are tipping Liverpool to have the advantage against Bayer Leverkusen for this eagerly anticipated clash between two great stylistic teams.

Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen are unbeaten in their last eleven in all competitions, although the Reds' home form at Anfield should give them the superior edge when hosting Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen side. Liverpool have only lost once at home this season and have won their last five home games at Anfield since the defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Both teams have scored in four of the previous five involving the Reds, to which Over 2.5 goals have also been scored in four of their last five.

Liverpool have been the first to score in six of their previous eight and hold a three-game winning run over the opposition. Liverpool have been exceptional under Arne Slot, as the new regime has brought 11 wins from their first 12 competitive games under the former Feyenoord manager.

For these reasons, despite the presence of Bayer Leverkusen on the attacking front, we feel Liverpool will have the edge for this fixture.

              Liverpool 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool vs Bayer Leverkusen Preview & Prediction

Arne Slot’s Liverpool revolution takes another step on the road to possible success as they host a Bayer Leverkusen side managed by former Liverpool player and managerial target Xabi Alonso.

              Date: 05/11/2024
              Location: Anfield
              Kick-Off: 8 pm

Hindsight is a beautiful thing in football, as the surrounding expectation following Jurgen Klopp’s departure was that former Liverpool midfielder, now manager, Xabi Alonso was going to leave the BayArena and be in the dugout in front of the Anfield faithful. Alonso rejected a move to Anfield in favour of one more year at Bayer Leverkusen, so Liverpool moved to secure the signature of Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, and since then, the Reds have not regretted their decision. Liverpool boasts a 100% record in their Champions League campaign, with wins against RB Leipzig, AC Milan and Bologna. Liverpool are top of the Premier League after ten games, with eight wins, one draw and one loss to Nottingham Forest.

This season, Bayer Leverkusen were finally defeated domestically when they were beaten by RB Leipzig earlier this season. In the Bundesliga, the reigning champions are already trailing the current leaders Bayern Munich, by seven points after nine games played. In the Champions League, they are unbeaten with two wins and a draw from their opening three games - including wins over AC Milan and Arne Slot’s former side Feyenoord.

              Form Guide

The recent history between the two teams heavily favours Arne Slot’s side, as Liverpool have won the last two meetings between the two teams in the UEFA Champions League. The two sides met in Liverpool’s famous Champions League win of 2005 in the round of 16, where Liverpool recorded a 6-2 aggregate win over the German opposition. Goals from Jon Arne Riise, Luis Garcia and Dietmar Hamann secured a 3-1 victory for the Reds in the first leg at Anfield.

This season, Liverpool have been excellent under Arne Slot. As mentioned, Liverpool have won 11 of the first 12 under the new manager and, more impressively, has recorded the best start of any Liverpool manager in the Premier League era, with 25 points from his first 30 points on offer in the league. The Reds have only lost one home game this season. However, since that defeat, Liverpool have won their previous five home games across all competitions, including recording a home win over Bologna in the UEFA Champions League. Since that defeat to Nottingham Forest, Arne Slot’s side have remained unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions.

In their most recent Premier League game at Anfield, Liverpool took advantage of the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, dropping points, to restore their place at the summit of the Premier League table. Ferdi Kadioglu had given Brighton the lead through a beautiful effort in the first half. However, second-half goals from Cody Gakpo and, in particular, a spectacular effort from Mohamed Salah completed the turnaround for a buoyant Liverpool team.

Bayer Leverkusen are also heading into this fixture on the back of rather spectacular form, as the German outfit are also on a run of 11 games unbeaten in all competitions. Similar to Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen have only lost once in all competitions this season. However, the visitors have notably obtained more draws this season, as they only have two fewer draws at this stage than during their invincible campaign last season.

In their most recent away fixture, Xabi Alonso’s side were held to a 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen. Goals from Victor Boniface and Felix Agu (OG) were in vain as Werder Bremen scored two late goals through Marvin Ducksch and Romano Schmid. That result left Bayer Leverkusen with no wins in their last three away from home, although they have remained unbeaten in their previous five on their travels.
