      Bristol City vs Millwall Prediction

We are leaning towards the home side for this game, stretching their unbeaten run and beating Millwall. Bristol City’s form heading into this fixture against Millwall is superb, with the home side unbeaten in their previous six games. The Robins scored the first in five of their last six.

Millwall is without a clean sheet in their last six and has also been the first to concede in four of the previous six. Sinclair Armstrong continues to lead the line in the absence of Tommy Conway, who is linked with a move away. Armstrong averaged 1.1 shots per game last season whilst finding the target on 0.6 shots per game.

With Bristol City’s form, we give the Robins the advantage for this game as we are leaning towards a 2-0 win for the home side. Bristol City 2-0 Millwall

Bristol City vs Millwall Prediction & Preview

The second round of Championship fixtures takes precedence next weekend as Ashton Gate hosts two teams separated by a single point after the opening weekend. Bristol City hosts Millwall, and both are searching for their first win.

      Date: 17/08/2024

      Location: Ashton Gate

      Kick-Off: 3 pm

Bristol City will be hoping this is the season. The Robins push for the top six as they, alongside Preston North End and Millwall, remain the only three teams that have never played in the Premier League in the Championship. Liam Manning takes charge of his second season at Ashton Gate, having developed a reputation for his style of play at Milon Keynes Dons and Oxford United. Off the field, speculation persists regarding striker Tommy Conway.

Bristol City began their campaign with a hard-fought draw away at Hull City, in which they were somewhat unfortunate not to see all three points. Second-half substitute Fally Mayulu looked to have secured the win for Bristol City with an 84th-minute goal; however, a minute into injury time, Joe Williams conceded a penalty whilst already on a yellow card, which allowed Oscar Estupinan to convert the penalty and rescue a point for Hull City.

Millwall began their season with a brilliant encounter with local rivals Watford, which ended in disappointment for Neil Harris and his East London side. Millwall were two goals down to Watford with goals from Edo Kayembe, and Giorgi Chakvetadze. Duncan Watmore scored a late second-half brace to rescue a point for Millwall. However, a late injury-time goal from Mileta Rajovic ended Millwall’s fightback.

      Recent Form

Despite Bristol City being in much more significant form than their opponents, Millwall have a slight advantage regarding recent meetings between the two teams. The Lions have won twice in the last four meetings between the sides, which included the away side picking up a 1-0 win at Ashton Gate last season. The last time Bristol City won this fixture was in 2022, in a 3-2 win at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City’s form heading into this fixture against Millwall is superb, with the home side unbeaten in their previous six games. The Robins have scored first in four of their last five games while keeping their eye on the disciplinary side by conceding fewer than five bookings in each of their previous nine games. Bristol City’s home form last season was very respectable, as they ended the season with 37 points gained at home from 23 games. The Robins won 11, drawn four and lost eight at Ashton Gate.

Millwall enters this game on the back of some terrible form, making the opening-day defeat to Watford seem worse on paper. Millwall have only won once in their previous five games, having ended last season in a rich vein of form, gaining 15 points from a possible 15 to end the season. One of the more embarrassing defeats for the Lions was the 1-0 defeat to Colchester United in pre-season.

MIllwall’s away form from last season concerns Neil Harris, and they should seek to rectify this going forward. Last season, Millwall ranked 14th in the standings for their away form, having won seven, drawn eight and lost ten. Millwall only scored 23 goals away from last season and conceded 26. Millwall conceded 55 goals last season, conceding 1.2 goals per game.
