        QPR vs Plymouth Prediction

With neither side recording a win so far this season, we are slightly leaning towards a Queens Park Rangers win.

Despite Plymouth being unbeaten in their last three against their hosts, QPR haven't lost a league meeting against Plymouth in their previous five. Plymouth beat QPR in the EFL Cup in 2020. Last season, both sides ground out consecutive draws against one another, with the league's earlier win.

Plymouth conceded four goals on the opening day but rectified things with a respectable draw against Hull City. QPR lost 3-1 on the opening day but were excellent against Sheffield United, down to ten men.

Queens Park Rangers, we feel, will secure the win here. The game will be tight, and we don’t expect a lot of goals either way, so we are saying Queens Park Rangers will sneak a 2-1 win.

Queens Park Rangers 2-1 Plymouth Argyle

QPR vs Plymouth Preview & Prediction

The Championship is underway as we enter matchday three, and this round of fixtures promises to entertain fans with mouthwatering encounters. Queens Park Rangers hosts Plymouth Argyle with both teams still seeking their first win in the league this season.

        Date: 24/08/2024

        Location: Loftus Road

        Kick-Off: 12.30 pm

Queens Park Rangers and Plymouth Argyle hope that neither side will be lingering around the relegation zone this season. Queens Park Rangers under Martin Cifuentes were brilliant towards the end of the season, and their end-of-season form helped them with their eventual survival. Cifuentes currently has a win rate of 38% during his time at Loftus Road since his arrival from Hammarby IF. The Hoops ended the season in 18th last season and will look to progress this season.

The home side disappointingly began their campaign with a 3-1 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion despite taking the lead. Josh Maja scored three that day. In the second game, Queens Park Rangers showed tremendous resiliency and spirit in their 2-2 draw against Sheffield United. Sheffield United were two goals up and with a man advantage, but goals from Lyndon Dykes and Jimmy Dunne rescued a point for the Hoops.

Plymouth Argyle are under new management this season following the dismissal of Ian Foster last season; Plymouth’s hierarchy opted for Wayne Rooney, who had previously performed abysmally at Birmingham City. Plymouth began their campaign with a 4-0 humbling in Wayne Rooney’s debut game as manager. Plymouth were denied three points against Hull City in the second game after the Pilgrims had taken the lead.

Queens Park Rangers have recorded the most recent league win meeting between the two teams, although that did take place in 2010.

        Plymouth Team News

Joe Edwards, Adam Forshaw and Ibrahim Cissoko received yellow cards in Plymouth Argyle’s 1-1 draw with Hull City.

Predicted Eleven: Hazard, Edwards, Gibson, Galloway, Mumba, Randell, Forshaw, Whittaker, Bundu, Cissoko, Hardie

        Recent Form

Queens Park Rangers were ranked towards the bottom of the league for home form last season, having the 21st worst form the previous season at Loftus Road. Queens Park Rangers won 30% of their home fixtures last season, scoring 1.22 goals per game. Interestingly, the Hoops have only kept a 26% clean sheet record at Loftus Road last season.

Queens Park Rangers showed tremendous resiliency and spirit in their 2-2 draw against Sheffield United. Sheffield United were two goals up and with a man advantage, but goals from Lyndon Dykes and Jimmy Dunne rescued a point for the Hoops.

Plymouth Argyle, as mentioned, are unbeaten in their last three against Queens Park Rangers, although the Pilgrims have yet to register a league win in their previous seven against the Hoops. Plymouth’s away form last season significantly contributed to their struggling league position.

The Pilgrims won only 13% of their away fixtures last season, whilst their home form was slightly better with a 28% win rate. Plymouth Argyle only won three away games last season, with their form ranked 22nd in the league. Plymouth Argyle only scored 18 goals last season away from home, averaging 0.78 goals per game whilst conceding 1.52 goals away from home.

Plymouth were denied three points against Hull City in the second game after the Pilgrims had taken the lead. Ibrahim Cissoko gave the Pilgrims the lead in the 52nd minute until Lewis Coyle equalised for Hull City nine minutes later.
