The second round of fixtures in this thrilling FIFA Club World Cup take place on Thursday, with the group standings starting to take shape ahead of matchday two.

UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain look to become the first side to qualify for the round of 16 when they take on Brazilian side Botafogo. This would require an unlikely draw between Atletico Madrid and Seattle Sounders, who play earlier on the previous day.

In Group A, there is a perfect opportunity for someone to establish themselves as the group leaders, considering it's even across the points and goals tally from the opening two games in that group.

Palmeiras were held to a 0-0 draw against a much-fancied FC Porto side and were largely dominant in the fixture. The Brazilian side had 55% possession and posed a considerable threat, with 19 shots registered against the Portuguese side. Palmeiras have only lost twice in their previous eight matches, so they are heading into this game with respectable form.

Al Ahly's only loss in their last six matches was a friendly defeat against Club America on penalties. Aside from this, the Egyptian side came into this tournament with six consecutive victories in the Egyptian Premier League. Al Ahly provided a great performance against Inter Miami, and barring the heroics from Oscar Ustari, Al Ahly may have well been top of the group phase heading into the second round of games.

Inter Miami's performance against the lower-ranked side in this group, Al Ahly, certainly raised more questions than answers, with the Egyptian side having the better chances in the game. Oscar Ustari was the saviour in the 43rd minute, saving Mahmoud Trezeguet's penalty. Javier Mascherano's side are unbeaten in four matches, but have only won twice in their previous six games, as their form has been somewhat inconsistent.

FC Porto's result against Palmeiras shouldn't deter them as the Portuguese side ended the season with five wins in their last six matches. Expect both teams to score, though, with the BTTS market landing in eight of their previous 10 games.

Despite the 4-0 defeat to PSG (with 10 men), you would still expect Atletico Madrid to record a heavy victory against MLS side Seattle Sounders. Diego Simeone's side have won three of their previous five competitive matches, and during those wins, they showcased their scoring prowess. In three of their last five matches, Atletico Madrid have scored four goals or more, with over 2.5 goals landing in four of their previous five games.

Seattle Sounders have suffered three straight defeats, following their 2-1 defeat to Botafogo. The American side have suffered four defeats in their last seven matches, conceding more than three goals in three of those four defeats.

PSG are in exceptional form, with six consecutive victories in all competitions, following their 4-0 win against Atletico Madrid. Luis Enrique's side are known for their attacking exploits, given the attacking depth the Champions League winners have at their disposal. Defensively, PSG have been solid, having kept three consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.

Botafogo are also unbeaten in four games, but have played a lesser quality of opposition than the European Champions. Despite beating Seattle Sounders, the Brazilian side are likely to face a gulf in quality when they face Luis Enrique's side.
