It comes as no surprise to anyone that the favourites for this season’s Bundesliga title is Bayern Munich, who are looking to win their eleventh title on the bounce, however, it could be a great season for the competitors to pounce, with all of the rumours of their star striker Robert Lewandowski wanting to leave the club this summer.

The Polish striker has been their main man for almost a decade and has been unbelievable for the Barvarian side in the past three seasons, scoring a combined 110 goals, which will be really hard to replace, despite the announcement of the signing of Sadio Mane from Liverpool.

Despite potentially losing one of the best players in the world, they still possess the best squad in the league, and are adding to that great talents from Ajax in Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui, whilst going into the second year under Julian Nagelsmann, with the player a lot more used to his unique system that takes teams some time to learn, which should make them clear favourites.

Despite losing Erling Haaland to Manchester City, Dortmund have made some great additions this summer in Nico Schlotterback, Niklas Sule from Bayern Munich, Sebastian Haller and Karim Adeyemi, who Dortmund will hope that they can help to challenge Bayern for the title for the first time in four seasons.

The additions of Schlotterback and Sule will be key in the potential title challenge of Dortmund, with their defence being their weakness last season, conceding the most goals of any team in the top eight, despite finishing second, showing if they fix their leaky backline, they could pose a threat to the Bayern dominance.

The continual development of Jude Bellingham could be what Dortmund needs to make a run for the title and if he takes a massive development leap as he enters his third season with the club then the Black and Yellows could turn the tide, but it will take a huge leap to challenge the juggernaut that is Bayern Munich.

After a really disappointing start to last season under now Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch, Leipzig bounced back in the second half of last season under Domenico Tedesco as they secured Champions League football on the last day of the season, whilst winning their first major trophy in the DFB Pokal at the same time.

Since joining in December 2021, Todesco won 19 of 30 games in charge of the club, which included a run to the Europa League semi-finals, and could be early signs that they are looking to mount a challenge to Bayern Munich’s long reign atop of German football.

What might cause Leipzig some trouble is that key player Konard Laimer could be on his way to Bayern, as he is looking to leave with one year left on his contract, which would be a big blow to Leipzig as he has been an important member of their squad for the past five seasons.

Bayer Leverkusen qualified for the Champions League for the first time in three seasons, finishing an impressive third place last season, which has made them outsiders for the Bundesliga title, but it will take a lot from them to complete this feat.

Their big setback going into next season is that they will be without potential Golden Boy winner Florian Wirtz for the first part of the season after rupturing his cruciate ligament in March having become an integral part of the team at just 19 years old, scoring seven goals and producing 10 assists in 24 league games.

Leverkusen has a lot of great young players that have great potential, including the likes of Moussa Diaby, Edmond Tapsoba and Jeremie Frimpong, which could improve their points total and secure Champions League football for a second successive season, but a title challenge is very unlikely with the other teams possessing great squads.
