Bayer Leverkusen have been the standout side in the Bundesliga this season, sitting top of the league, anticipating a challenge from Bayern Munich. Bayer Leverkusen, on the other hand, sit top of the Bundesliga after 17 games. The Black and Reds have 14 wins, three draws and are the only team yet to lose. This leaves them on 45 points, an important four points ahead of Bayern Munich who have a game in hand.
Leverkusen are keeping up with Bayern Munich on the attacking front, having scored 47 goals in 17 games, averaging 2.76 goals a game with their top scorer, Victor Boniface having ten goals so far this season. As the only unbeaten team in the league, Leverkusen have the best defence, only conceding 12 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.
RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen have only met 15 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming in 2016 when Leipzig first got to the Bundesliga. Leipzig actually have the better record in the fixture with seven wins in comparison to Leverkusen’s four wins, with the other four games ending in a draw.
The fixture is a high-scoring one with 45 goals in 15 games and often a high-tempered one with 42 yellow cards.
