AS Roma vs Inter Milan: Betting Tips, Match Prediction & Preview

The Stadio Olimpico hosts AS Roma and Inter Milan this Saturday in the late kick-off in Serie A. Inter Milan look to extend their lead at the top of the league whereas Roma looks to continue their excellent start to life under Daniele De Rossi.

These odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

The departure of Jose Mourinho has seen them have a 'new manager bounce' as they've won three out of three under club legend, De Rossi. Inter Milan already have a cushion at the top of the table but are looking to extend that lead over Juventus.

Roma currently sit fifth in Serie A after 23 games. The Wolves have 11 wins, five draws and seven losses, leaving them on 38 points, just one point behind Atalanta in the final guaranteed Champions League spot, but, 11 points behind third-place AC Milan.

The Wolves have been active in front of goal this season. In 23 games, Roma have scored 40 goals, giving them an average of 1.74 goals a game. At the other end of the pitch, Roma have conceded 26 goals and have kept just six clean sheets.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, sit top of Serie A. In 22 games, The Nerazzurri have 18 wins, three draws and just one loss which leaves them on 57 points, four points above Juventus and eight points above AC Milan.

The Nerazzurri have scored 51 goals in 22 games, the most in the league, which also gives them an average of 2.32 goals a game. Inter also have the best defensive record in Serie A, conceding only ten goals and keeping 14 clean sheets.

Roma and Inter Milan have met 215 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1986. Inter Milan have the better record in the fixture with 96 wins in comparison to Roma’s 62 wins, with the other 57 games ending in a draw.

This fixture is a high-scoring one, with 645 goals in 215 games so far. Inter Milan have scored the most goals in the fixture with 375 goals in comparison to Roma’s 288 goals. However, three of the last five games between the two, have only had one team on the scoresheet and only two of the games have had over three goals.

In their last six games in all competitions, Roma have three wins, one draw and two losses.

Teun Koopmeiners opened the scoring for Atalanta in the eighth minute but a penalty from Paulo Dybala meant it was level at halftime. Despite having 16 shots with six on target, Roma couldn’t find another goal and had to settle for a 1 - 1 draw.

The Quarter-final of the Coppa Italia saw Roma take on Lazio. A penalty from Mattia Zaccagni was the only goal of the game and gave Lazio the 1 - 0 win, with Pedro sent off for Lazio late on and Sardar Azmoun and Gianluca Mancini both sent off for Roma in extra time.

Back in Serie A, Roma faced AC Milan. Yacine Adli’s goal gave AC Milan a 1 - 0 lead at halftime and Olivier Giroud doubled the lead early in the second half. A penalty from Leandro Paredes got Roma on the scoresheet but a goal from Theo Hernandez secured the 3 - 1 win for Milan.

Roma bounced back against Verona. Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini both scored in the first half. This 2 - 0 lead was enough as only Michael Folorunsho could find the back of the net for Verona as Roma held on for the 2 - 1 win.

Another penalty from Dybala and a goal from Pellegrini gave Roma the 2 - 0 lead. Grigoris Kastanos responded quickly, but Roma once again held on for a 2 - 1 win.

On Monday, Roma thrashed Cagliari 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to make it three wins from three for De Rossi. The likes of Lorenzo Pellegrini, Paulo Dybala (2) and Dean Huijsen all got on the scoresheet during the aforementioned victory.

In their last five games in all competitions, Inter Milan have five wins.

Both Hakan Calhanoglu and Lautaro Matinez grabbed a brace against Monza and were joined on the scoresheet by Marcus Thuram. Matteo Pessina converted his penalty for Monza but Inter held on for the 5 - 1 win.

The Semi-final of the Supercoppa Italiana saw Inter Milan host Lazio. Thuram, Calhanoglu and Davide Frattesi all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Milan over a Lazio side who couldn’t register a single shot on target.

The next time out for Inter was the Final of the Supercoppa Italiana, where they faced Napoli. Following the red card to Giovanni Simeone just after the hour mark for Napoli, Martinez popped up with a goal in the 91st minute to give Inter the 1 - 0 win.

Back in Serie A, Martinez was on the scoresheet again, this time against Fiorentina. Martinez’s goal in the 14th minute was the only goal of the game as Inter picked up another 1 - 0 win.

The last time out for Inter was a big game against Juventus. A Federico Gatti own goal in the first half was the only goal of the game in a big 1 - 0 win for Inter, who restricted Juventus to just one shot on target.
