Super 6 Predictions Round 40

Super 6

Arsenal 2-0 West Ham United

The Gunners are in decent form heading into this one, with four wins and one loss from their last five games in all competitions. Arsenal come into this game with four wins from their last five matches in the Premier League, with victories against Leicester City (0-2), Manchester City (5-1), Wolves (0-1) and Tottenham Hotspur (2-1). Mikel Arteta’s side are unbeaten on home soil in the Premier League.

West Ham United are without a win in their previous four matches and are without a clean sheet in their last eight games. The Hammers have only won once away from home in their last five, suffering two defeats against Chelsea (2-1) and Manchester City (4-1). The reverse fixture resulted in a 5-2 defeat for Graham Potter’s side.

Ipswich Town 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Ipswich Town come into this game having won only once in their previous five matches in all competitions, and that was an FA Cup tie against Coventry City (1-4). The Tractor Boys did pick up a valuable point in their previous Premier League game against Aston Villa (1-1), in which the side was reduced to ten men following a dismissal for Axel Tuanzebe. Ipswich Town desperately needs a win in the Premier League, with the home side winless in their last seven league games, including conceding six to Manchester City at Portman Road.

Tottenham Hotspur have won their last two consecutive Premier League games, beating the likes of Manchester United (1-0) and Brentford (0-2) in their last away game. Those two wins paint a slightly different picture to their overall form, with the visitors winless in their last seven league patches prior to the Brentford game.

Southampton 1-3 Brighton & Hove Albion

Southampton has a horrible home record in the Premier League, with the Saints looking for their first league win at St.Mary’s since November last year. The home side have lost their last five home Premier League matches against Bournemouth (1-3), Newcastle United (1-3), Brentford (0-5), West Ham United (0-1) and Tottenham Hotspur (0-5).

Brighton & Hove Albion are unbeaten in the last six meetings between the two teams and have scored first in seven of the last eight fixtures between the two sides. The Seagulls have suffered only one defeat in their last five away games, securing two victories against Manchester United (1-3) and Ipswich Town (0-2).

Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea

Aston Villa were involved in a thrilling 2-2 draw with league leaders Liverpool in midweek as goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins were cancelled out by strikes from Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Prior to that game, Emery’s men had been held to a 1-1 draw by Ipswich Town after beating Tottenham Hotspur (2-1) and Celtic (4-2) on either side of a 2-0 away loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea enter this game off the back of two humbling defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League and FA Cup, losing via 3-0 and 2-1 scorelines. In the run-up to those matches against the Seagulls, Maresca’s men had managed two home wins over West Ham United (2-1) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (3-1) on either side of a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City.

Newcastle United 2-1 Nottingham Forest

At home however, Newcastle United have been assured in recent weeks, keeping three clean sheets in their last five games at St.James’ Park. Newcastle United have won three of their last five home games, against the likes of Wolves (3-0), Aston Villa (3-0) and Aston Villa (4-0).

Nottingham Forest come into this game, with three wins from their previous five games in all competitions, following their 2-1 defeat away at Fulham in their last Premier League game. In the Premier League, the Reds have won only twice in their last five games, securing those victories against Southampton (3-2) and Brighton & Hove Albion (7-0).

Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool

Manchester City have only lost twice in the league at the Etihad this season, with the visitors unbeaten away from home after their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa. City enter this game with just two wins from their last five matches, having suffered a heavy 5-1 away defeat at Arsenal at that start of this sequence, before beating Leyton Orient 2-1 in the FA Cup thanks to goals by Rico Lewis and Kevin De Bruyne.

Liverpool have not won away at Manchester City since 2018 and the meeting at the Etihad last season resulted in a draw. Liverpool also head into this showdown with just two wins from their last five matches, as following their superb 4-0 home win over Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final, they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle at Home Park as Ryan Hardie scored the only goal of the game in the 53rd-minute.
