Grand National Tips: 16/1 & 14/1 Expert Tips for Today's Race

The 2025 Grand National takes place today at 5pm, and we've got two tips - one from each of our horse racing experts.

Gavin Cromwell's Vaniller ran an impressive third in the cross country race at Cheltenham Festival last month, backing up a good win at Punchestown where the first time blinkers appear to have contributed to him being back to his best.

He finish second in this race in 2023, staying all the way to the line, and while he wasn't so successful in 2024 (finishing 14th) he still managed to get around the difficult Grand National fences with no problems.

He's arguably been plotted for this race during the last two years, and he has an element of class about him which so many high placing finishers in the Grand National often have.

Willie Mullins unsurprisingly has a strong hand for the Grand National; our pick of his runners is Minella Cocooner.

He was a strong third in the Irish Grand National last season when carrying top weight on bottomless ground. Backing that run up in good style with a win at Sandown in the bet365 Gold Cup on quick ground, he beat Nick Rockett back into 3rd.

He hasn't managed to hold his own in Grade One events this season, competing with horses like Galopin Des Champs, but he comes here on the back of a solid 4th place in the Bobbyjo Chase over a shorter distance than he would like.

This step up to the extreme Grand National trip and the quick ground should both suit him, and he's got a great chance today.
