          Hungary vs Germany Prediction

Despite having top spot already secured, we are backing Germany to record another comfortable win against Hungary. The Germans are unbeaten in the Nations League this campaign with four wins and a draw, whilst Hungary have won just once in five games with two losses and two draws.

The visitors have won three games in a row whilst scoring first in four of their previous five. Games involving Germany tend to provide goals, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of the previous five. They have scored seven goals past Hungary in the last two meetings and have kept consecutive clean sheets against the host, success that should continue – Hungary 0-3 Germany

Hungary vs Germany: Preview & Prediction

Hungary host Germany in the final game of the Nations League group stages. Recent results mean there is little to play for on both sides, though they will each want to end with three points.

          Date: 19/11/24

          Kick-off time: 19:45

          Venue: Puskás Aréna Park

With one game to go, Germany have already secured top spot in the group. Victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina last time out put them on 13 points, five clear of second place Netherlands. So far, they have come through the group stages undefeated, and will be confident in ensuring six games without a loss.

Looking to stop them is Hungary who, barring a win and a miraculous result in the other fixture between Netherlands and Bosnia, will end their Nations League campaign with a third place finish. They trail the Dutch by three points, but are 13 behind on goal difference. However, they will hope to finish on a positive note, especially at home.

Although Germany could go with an altered lineup, the Hungary attack may face issues going forward. The hosts have scored just three goals in the tournament, and come up against a defence who have kept three clean sheets. The Germans also have conceded the second-fewest goals of any team in League A, with three. If Hungary are to threaten, any success will likely go through Dominik Szoboszlai. The midfielder has scored only one goal for Liverpool this season, but found the net twice earlier in the group stages.

At the other end, they face a tough task in stopping Julian Nagelsmann’s men. Borussia Monchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst has had an excellent start to the Bundesliga season, and has carried this form over for his country. He scored twice in the side’s 7-0 win over Bosnia. Kai Havertz, Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala were also on the scoresheet. Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry both came off the bench, highlighting the strength in depth they possess.

This has been a frequent fixture in recent years with these two teams meeting five times since 2021. There has not been much to split the pair as Germany have recorded two wins to Hungary’s one with two draws. The Germans are winners of two in a row, winning 2-0 in the Euros, and 5-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in this competition, which took place in September. Hungary’s last win came in the 2022 Nations League, as they won 1-0 away from home. Adam Szalai scored the winner.

          Where to Watch

Hungary vs Germany will not be available to watch on TV in the UK.

          Team News

          Hungary

Attila Fiola should be available for selection after serving a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards. Expect Barnabas Varga to start up front once again with Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai in support.

          Germany

With top place in the group secured, Julian Nagelsmann could give other players minutes and rest some of his regulars. Tim Kleindienst got the start last time out and scored twice, so could be rewarded with another appearance.

          Form Guide

          Hungary:

In their last five games, Hungary have won one, lost two and drawn two. It has been a difficult run of games for Hungary as they look to end the group stages strong. This stretch began with a 5-0 loss against their upcoming opponents Germany. They remained in the game at half-time just a goal down, but their hosts secured the three points in the second half.

They picked up their first point with a goalless draw against Bosnia & Herzegovina. Hungary were the dominant side, with more possession and shot attempts. However, they were unable to find the breakthrough. Another draw followed, though more impressive against the Netherlands. They drew 1-1 at home after Denzel Dumfries cancelled out Roland Sallai’s first half opener.

A first three points came against Bosnia away from home. Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai scored either side of half-time to secure the win. Their most recent game was a trip to face the Netherlands. They fell to a 4-0 defeat, conceding two penalties to Wout Weghorst and Cody Gakpo, before further strikes from Dumfries and Teun Koopmeiners.

          Germany:

In their last five games, Germany have won four and drawn one. It has been a dominant stretch for the Germans as they look to end the Nations League on a high. This run began with matchday one of the competition as they hosted this week’s opponents Hungary. They were comfortable 5-0 winners with Niclas Fullkrug, Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Kai Havertz all on the scoresheet.

The only blemish on their campaign so far was a 2-2 draw at the Netherlands. They fell behind early before strikes from Denis Undav and Joshua Kimmich turned it around on the stroke of half-time. Denzel Dumfries equalised shortly after the restart to ensure the points were shared. They got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at Bosnia & Herzegovina. Undav netted a first half brace.

Germany continued their winning form with a 1-0 result against Netherlands. Jamie Leweling scored the winning goal with 35 minutes to go. Last time out they played their penultimate game of the group stage at home to Bosnia. They were dominant victors, winning 7-0. Musiala, Tim Kleindienst (x2), Havertz, Wirtz (x2) and Leroy Sane were the scorers.
