          Montenegro vs Wales Prediction

This fixture looks close to call between two teams, generally in poor form heading into this game. Montenegro have lost their previous three games in all competitions, facing a Wales side with no wins in four.

Craig Bellamy’s side have found goals hard to come by, with no goals scored in their last four, although Montenegro has failed to keep a clean sheet in their previous three. Don't expect goals in this fixture, if any, with four of the last five fixtures involving Montenegro featuring less than 2.5 goals. Wales have a similar record, with five of the previous seven not breaching the Over 2.5 goals market.

We can’t look past anything other than a score draw between the two teams for these reasons. Recent history suggests a tight fixture between the two, with each win sharing a win against the other. We are going with a 1-1 draw in Craig Bellamy’s second game in charge of the Wales national team for this game.

Montenegro vs Wales Preview & Prediction

The UEFA Nations League is underway, and at the Stadion Kraj Bistrice, the two sides are looking for their first win in this edition of the competition. Wales travel to Montenegro in Craig Bellamy’s second game in charge of the Wales national team.

          Date: 09/09/2024
          Location: Stadion Kraj Bistrice
          Kick-Off: 7.45 pm

Montenegro has the unfortunate notion of being at the bottom of their group after their opening game, although recent history against Wales could provide a solace of confidence as they have won two of their last three against Wales. Montenegro showed great promise during their European qualification campaign, although, unfortunately for Robert Prosinecki’s side, they finished third in their group and missed out on a summer in Berlin.

Montenegro was featured in League C for their first two UEFA Nations League campaigns, and in their last campaign, the Brave Dragons were featured in League B for the first time. In that campaign, Montenegro finished third behind Bosnia and Finland. The home side began their campaign with a 2-0 loss against Iceland.

Wales are under a new era following the departure of Rob Page from the national setup. Rob Page’s final act as Wales manager was leading the Dragons to heartbreak in the qualification process for the European Championships. Poland beat Wales in the final play-off game on penalties, which signalled the end for Page and his tenure.

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 2-1 to Wales thanks to goals from Aaron Ramsey and Steve Morison in 2011.

          Where to watch

The game will be available to watch on BBC I-Player and Channel S4C in Wales.

          Form Guide

The recent history between the two teams is split relatively evenly, although Montenegro just edges it based on three meetings between the two sides, as they have two victories. Wales are without a clean sheet in their last three against Montenegro. Craig Bellamy’s side have found goals hard to come by, with no goals scored in their last four, although Montenegro has failed to keep a clean sheet in their previous three.

In their international fixtures, Montenegro enters this game on the reels of imposing home form. The home side have won four of their previous five home fixtures, which includes an impressive 2-1 win over Bulgaria in former Manchester City players were the showcase for Montenegro. Stefan Savic opened the scoring just before half-time, which was cancelled out by Preslav Borukov’s equaliser for Bulgaria. Stefan Jovetic secured a last-minute winner, sparking wild celebrations for the home side.

Wales are coming into this game on relatively poor form but will be buoyed by the recent result against Turkey. As mentioned, Wales are winless in their last four and are without a goal in four. Craig Bellamy’s side have only won once in their previous five away games, drawing twice and losing twice in those five.

Their most recent away fixture that resulted in a victory was against Latvia, in which Wales were 2-0 victors. Aaron Ramsey opened the scoring for the Dragons in the 29th minute with a penalty, and Wales then secured the victory with a 96th-minute goal through David Brooks.

Wales previous victory, in general, was a 4-1 win over Finland. David Brooks gave Wales the lead, followed by a goal from Neco Williams. Teemu Pukki pulled a goal back for Finland until two further goals from Brennan Johnson and Daniel James secured a comprehensive victory.
