Spain vs Andorra: Preview, Prediction & Betting Tips

The Estadio Nuevo Vivero hosts Spain and Andorra in an international friendly this Wednesday. Spain are deep in preparation for this summer’s European Championships whereas Andorra look to pick up their first win in the fixture.

        Date: 05/06/2024

        Kick off time: 20:30

        Location: Estadio Nuevo Vivero

It’ll be a quiet summer for Andorra after failing to qualify for the Euros, meaning a big win over Spain this week could mean even more. Spain, on the other hand, will be looking to build some momentum going into a summer of tournament football.

Spain finished top of their qualifying group for the Euros. Group A saw them take on Scotland, Norway, Georgia and Cyprus and in eight games, Spain picked up seven wins and one loss. This left them on 21 points, four points above second-place Scotland.

At the tournament Spain will compete in Group B alongside the likes of Croatia, reigning Champions Italy and Albania. Spain have a good record in this competition as two time champions, Spain are the only side to ever win consecutive titles with their wins in 2008 and 2012.

Andorra had a poor showing in qualifying for the Euros. In Group I, Andorra took on Kosovo, Belarus, Israel, Switzerland and Romania. In ten games, Andorra picked up two draws and eight losses, leaving them on two points, bottom of the group and 15 points from qualification.

The Euros are a tournament that Andorra have never competed in. In fact, the best result Andorra have ever recorded in relation is a fifth place finish in their qualification group, which they recorded in 20004, 2020 and 2024.

Spain and Andorra have met just once in their histories, with this coming back in an international friendly in 2004. Here Spain washed out Andorra, grabbing the only win in the fixture.

Fernando Sanchez Morientes opened the scoring for Spain in the 25th minute and Ruben Baraja doubled the lead before halftime. Both Martin Cesar and Juan Carlos Valeron also scored in the second half to give Spain the 4 - 0 win.

        Recent Form

In their last five games in all competitions, Spain have three wins, one draw and one loss.

Both Norway and Spain registered just two shots on target in 90 minutes, but Gavi managed to convert just one of them just minutes into the second half to give Spain the 1 - 0 win.

The next time out against Cyprus saw Spain get right into the action as Yamal found the back of the net in the fifth minute. Mikel Oyarzabal and Joselu also grabbed goals in the first half as Kostas Pileas’s late goal was just a consolation in the 3 - 1 win for Spain.

Spain picked up another 3 - 1 win in the qualifiers, this time against Georgia. Robin Le Normand opened the scoring for Spain in the fourth minute but Kvicha Kvaratskhelia equalised for Georgia before the ten minute mark. However, in the second half, a goal from Torres and an own goal from Luka Lochoshvili gave Spain the 3 - 1 win.

In the first of the March international friendlies, Spain took on Colombia. After a goalless first half, Daniel Munoz scored the only goal of the game just after the hour mark to give Colombia the 1 - 0 win.

The last time out for Spain was against Brazil in another friendly. Rodri’s first penalty opened the scoring for Spain early on and Dani Olmo doubled the lead 20 minutes later. Rodryo got Brazil on the scoresheet before halftime and Endrick pulled Brazil level early in the second half. Rodri thought he had won the game with his second penalty in the 87th minute but a penalty from Lucas Paqueta in the sixth minute of extra time forced a 3 - 3 draw.

In their last five games in all competitions, Andorra have one draw and four losses.

Andorra had just 21% of the possession and zero shots on target against Romania. Nicolae Stanciu, Ianis Hagi, Razvan Marin and Florinel Coman all scored to give Romania the 4 - 0 win, with Moises San Nicolas sent off late on for Andorra.

The next time out was a slight improvement for Andorra, who managed to register two shots on target against Belarus. However, Denis Laptev scored the only goal of the game in the 83rd minute to give Belarus the 1 - 0 win.

The visit from Israel saw an own goal from Joab Cervos give the visitors the lead at halftime. Gadi Kinda also found the back of the net in the second half to secure the 2 - 0 win for Israel.

An international friendly between Andorra and South Africa saw Andorra take an early lead through Betriu in the fifth minute. However, Elias Mokwana equalised before halftime and neither side could find another goal as the game finished a 1 - 1 draw.

The most recent outing for Andorra was against Bolivia. Ramiro Vaca scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute to give Bolivia the 1 - 0 win.

Andorra are unlikely to bag their first win against Spain this weekend and are unlikely to even get on the scoresheet, with Morata a likely scorer for Spain. Spain 4 - 0 Andorra.
