Next Bristol Rovers Manager Odds

Recently Bristol Rovers sacked manager Paul Tisdale after just 19 matches in charge, following a ten-game winless run, which currently sees the Pirates sit in 20th place in League One, only above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Director of football Tommy Widdrington has been in temporary charge for the last week or so but isn’t in the running for the job at the Memorial Stadium. He was due to take charge of their crucial League One fixture against Swindon Town last Saturday, but the game was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Darrell Clarke Odds: 2/1

Former Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke is the favourite for the job, following the sacking of Tisdale.

Clarke managed Rovers between the years of 2014 and 2018, where he oversaw the club being promoted from the National League, as well as League Two, before consolidating their position in League One. The former Salisbury City man left his role at the Memorial Stadium in December 2018, following a run of seven defeats in ten matches.

Since then, the 43-year-old has taken over the reins at Walsall in League Two and his side currently sit just outside the play-off places.

Clarke has the odds of 2/1 to make a dramatic return to the Pirates.

Joey Barton Odds: 1/2

Former Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton is in contention to get the job at Bristol Rovers, having being sacked by Fleetwood Town at the start of January.

Barton’s sacking at Highbury came as a shock to many, as Fleetwood were just three points outside of League One’s playoff places, and having guided them to the playoffs in English footballs third tier for the first time in the club’s history last campaign, it was believed that Barton would be granted more time to fix the Cod Army’s form.

Barton has proven himself to be a capable and ambitious manager in his only other previous role, he is priced at 1/2 to become the next manager of Rovers.

James Rowberry Odds: 8/1

Cardiff City coach James Rowberry has also been touted for the job at Rovers, following an impressive and quick progression through his coaching career, which has seen him coach at clubs ranging from Newport County to Cardiff City.

Rowberry is just 35-years-old and has been said to be an ambitious coach who has all the attributes to make it as a manager in the near future. At present the former Newport man is the Bluebird’s first-team coach, having joined them as a Lead Development Coach in their academy programme back in 2013.

Rowberry is priced at 8/1 to be appointed as a manager of a senior side for the first time.
