Robins is regarded by many Coventry fans as a club legend, having managed the club over two separate spells, accumulating 420 matches, overseeing the club’s rise from League Two to the Championship.

At the weekend, Rhys Carr took charge of Coventry’s 2-2 draw with league leaders Sunderland - he has odds of 33/1 (was 50/1) to take the job on a permanent basis.

Could Frank Lampard be about to make a return to management with Coventry?

The 46-year-old was most recently Chelsea’s caretaker manager for 11 games in the 2022/23 season, winning just once, while his previous spell before that between July 2019 and January 2021 saw the Blues win just 44 of his 84 games in charge.

Lampard also managed Everton from January 2022 and January 2023, helping to keep the Toffees up in his first half a season in charge before regressing, finishing with a 27% win percentage at Goodison Park.

Before this, he had been manager of Derby County for one season, reaching the Championship play-off final in 2018/19, however, the Rams were beaten by Aston Villa and Lampard left Pride Park to join Chelsea.

Ex-Coventry City forward Robbie Keane has been talked about as a potential successor to Robins.

Keane was most recently manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv between June 2023 and June 2024. The 44-year-old managed to win 41 and draw nine of his 56 matches, equating to a 73% win percentage - resulting in the Israeli outfit winning the Israeli Premier League and the Toto Cup AI.

In last season’s Europa Conference League, Keane lead Maccabi Tel Aviv to the Round of 16, however, they were beaten 7-5 on aggregate by eventual champions Olympiakos.

Prior to the above experience, Keane had served as assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland and Middlesbrough. As well as this, Keane had also been part of Sam Allardyce’s coaching staff at Leeds towards the end of the 2022/23 season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's Odds: 11/1 (WAS 40/1)

Ruud van Nistelrooy's odds have been slashed from 40/1 to 11/1 to become Coventry City's next permanent manager.

The Dutchman recently departed Manchester United following a brief spell as assistant manager before becoming Interim manager on a short term basis after Erik ten Hag's sacking - leaving the club with a record of three wins and one draw from four games in charge.
