Wycombe Wanderers could be on the lookout for a new manager as current boss Gareth Ainsworth looks destined to be named as Queens Park Rangers’ next manager, with his odds standing at 1/20 for a return to Loftus Road.
Ainsworth has been at Wycombe since September 2012, managing the Chairboys 550 times, winning 219 and drawing 137 matches, equating to a 39.8% win percentage.
The Adams Park club have had some memorable matches under the 49-year-old’s management, having earned promotion from League Two in 2017/18 via a third-place finish, finishing behind Accrington Stanley and Luton Town with 84 points from 46 matches.
On top of this, Ainsworth lead the club to the Championship for the first time in their history during 2019/20, as they won the play-offs at the expense of Fleetwood Town and Oxford United.
Regardless of what happens, Ainsworth will be regarded as a club legend due to the service he has provided as manager, on top of the 114 league appearances he made for the club. It will be interesting to see which managerial candidate the club opts for, especially considering the fact that they are seventh in League One with 53 points from 31 games, three points off the play-off places.
