Solskjaer looking to get his business over the line early

This summer is expected to shatter a host of records in terms of transfer fees and one club who are expected to be extremely active are Manchester United.

The Red Devils come into the summer fresh from suffering one of their worst Premier League campaigns which resulted in a sixth placed finish and no Champions League football.

They're a million miles away from where they used to be back in the Sir Alex Ferguson days and current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has an absolutely massive job on his hands in taking the club back to those heights.

An overhaul of the squad looks set to happen over the next few windows and this one will be paramount if they're to start climbing up the table. A new approach to the clubs transfer strategy looks like the most likely option, meaning big names are no longer the first port of call.

Solskjaer wants young, hungry players who're willing to fight for the shirt which has led to strong links with Swansea City's Daniel James and Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff.

Another name that they're expected to go for is Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who looks like one of the summers hottest properties. The Crystal Palace youngster has grown into one of the Premier League's finest full-backs over the last couple of seasons and at the age of 21, he looks like a perfect fit for Solskjaer's new vision.

He's been linked with the likes of Tottenham and rivals Manchester City so United could well find themselves in a bidding war, but this guy is seriously worth the money.

United expected to submit opening bid very soon

The sheer scale of the re-building job required at Manchester United is huge and they seemingly need new recruits in pretty much every position. Right-back has been identified as a key area by Solskjaer and if they could complete the signing of Wan-Bissaka, it would be something of a coup.

The Palace academy graduate may be just 21 years of age but he's already amassed an impressive 46 senior appearances for the Eagles, really growing as a player. His performances have seen him named Palace's Young Player of the Year in each of the previous two seasons and he looks tailor made for an elite club - so it's not surprise to see him linked with the sides he is.

But actually getting to move up north could be a tough task for United. Wan-Bissaka appears to be content with life in London and Palace would demand a large fee for his services, especially with another star man Wilfried Zaha pushing for a move away from Selhurst Park.

He may only be 21 years-old but Wan-Bissaka has established himself as one of the Premier League's finest full-backs

The London Evening Standard are reporting that Solskjaer has made the 21 year-old one of his top targets and has told Ed Woodward to make an opening bid, which is expected to be around the £25m mark. In typical Woodward fashion this is way too low but it will form the start of the negotiations between the two clubs so it's going to be interesting to see if they can reach some kind of compromise.

Last season Wan-Bissaka made 35 appearances for the Eagles, recording 3 assists and making a massive 129 tackles - only Wilfred Ndidi (143) and Idrissa Gueye (142) complete more. He's the ultimate modern day full-back, able to both attack and defend to a very high level and if they could sign him he could potentially play at a very high level for the next 10-13 years - so even if they have to fork out a big fee he could well prove to be excellent value for money.

This is a move we can definitely see happening and it would be a statement of intent by the Red Devils to get it over the line early on - watch this space...
