Tottenham vs Burnley - Tottenham to win
Tottenham Hotspur remained unbeaten during pre-season and were only minutes away from beating PSG in midweek. The home side has won the last four meetings between the two clubs, and Burnley has conceded first in five of their last six matches.
Despite an excellent showing in the Championship last season, Burnley's previous away record in the Premier League means the Clarets will need to show much improvement this time round. Scott Parker's side lost 11 of 19 matches away from home under Vincent Kompany.
Wolves vs Manchester City - Manchester City to win
Wolves' home form wasn't the best last season, with the Midlands club the 16th-best side in the league on their own patch, claiming 21 points from 19 games. Away from home, Manchester City were solid last season, claiming 29 points from 19 games while also losing just one of their last five on the road. City have won four of the last five meetings between the two sides.
Bristol City vs Charlton Athletic - Bristol City to win
Bristol City produced arguably the performance of the weekend during the opening set of fixtures for the 2025/26 season in the Championship, with their excellent 4-1 win against promotion contenders Sheffield United. The Robins reached the playoffs last season, and a large factor in their success was their terrific home form at Ashton Gate, which saw them only lose three times at home all season.
Preston North End vs Leicester City - Leicester City to win
Leicester City have a good record against Preston North End in their league meetings, as the Foxes have won the last three and are unbeaten in the last seven fixtures between the two sides. Last season, the home side had the sixth-worst home record in the Championship, winning only seven of their 23 matches at Deepdale.
The Lilywhites have been defensively poor against the Foxes, as in the last nine meetings between the two sides, they have failed to keep a clean sheet.
Wigan Athletic vs Peterborough United - Wigan Athletic to win
Wigan Athletic were beaten by a strong Leyton Orient last weekend, but we still fancy them to beat Peterborough United, who have brought their defensive frailties into the new season, following a dismal campaign.
The Posh have lost their last three matches, which included a defeat in midweek to League Two Accrington Stanley and last season, they had the second-worst defence in the league, with only Crawley Town having a far worse record, which led them to be relegated. Darren Ferguson's side have injuries in key areas, with captain Sam Hughes ruled out for three months.
Cardiff City vs Rotherham United - Cardiff City to win
Cardiff City are unbeaten in their previous eight matches, with two home victories so far this season. In the last 12 meetings between the two sides, Rotherham united have failed to keep a clean sheet. Rotherham United are winless away from home in their last four away games in League One, stretching back to last season.
Crewe vs Crawley Town - Crewe to win
Crewe Alexandra have made a perfect start to league football this season, with two wins from their opening two matches, which include a terrific 3-1 away victory at Salford. The visitors for this game, Crawley Town, have suffered six consecutive losses and have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight matches. To make matters worse for the away side, they have conceded first in five of their previous six games.
Nottingham Forest vs Brentford - Nottingham Forest to win
Nottingham Forest had a strong home record last season, only losing five times from 19 league matches at the City Ground. Brentford have lost key figures over the summer, and the away side had lost eight of their 19 league games away from home last season, collecting only 25 points.
