Ruben Loftus-Cheek Transfer Odds

The favourites to sign Loftus-Cheek are Aston Villa and it is reported that Dean Smith is a big fan of the 25-year-old and will try to sign the midfielder on loan for the upcoming season. The signing of Loftus-Cheek will help add depth to the Aston Villa midfield as Ross Barkley’s loan deal expired, who ironically also heads back to Chelsea like his compatriot.

Loftus-Cheek will be vying for places with Douglas Luiz, John McGinn, Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson at Villa Park, but the Englishman also offers versatility as he will be able to further forward in a more attacking role.

A move like this will suit both parties as it will help Loftus-Cheek reignite his career, and given how Jack Grealish could be on his way out, this could be a like-for-like change. Smith also has a reputation for helping players reach their potential as seen with Ollie Watkins and Matty Cash, so if Smith can replicate this with Loftus-Cheek, then he could possibly help them fight for Europe next season.

Crystal Palace are also linked with a move for Loftus-Cheek in a move that would see the midfielder make a return to Selhurst Park and would play a key role in the rebuild that is most likely to occur at Palace this summer.

His previous spell at Palace was one of the best seasons of Loftus-Cheek’s career to date as his form earned him a call-up to the England team in November, before earning a call up to the World Cup squad where his sole appearance would come against Panama.

A move to Palace would appeal to the midfielder as it will give him a chance to find form in familiar surroundings, but due to the uncertainty around Palace and who will be in charge, this is what could tempt Loftus-Cheek away from a possibility of another relegation fight.

Newly promoted Watford have also shown an interest in Loftus-Cheek and this would give the midfielder a chance to reunite with former teammate Nathaniel Chalobah, while also adding more Premier League experience to the squad.

A move to Vicarage Road would see Loftus-Cheek fight for the midfield spots along with Tom Cleverley, Will Hughes, Carlos Sanchez and Chalobah but due to Loftus-Cheek’s slightly younger age, he could be seen as the favourite to start.

This move may not materialise as Loftus-Cheek will want to be looking for a better team to play for as he will not want to be fighting in a relegation scrap again and will believe that his talent would be better used higher up the league.

With the departure of Jesse Lingard and the prospect of European football next season, West Ham will be looking for backup in midfield. Loftus-Cheek would be playing a good backup role for the likes of Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice, while also offering the ability to play further forward and behind Michail Antonio like that of what Jesse Lingard has done.

The work that David Moyes for Lingard would surely appeal to Loftus-Cheek as Lingard was able to drastically turn his career around after being outcasted at Manchester United, so he will be hoping that this can be replicated for him.

The prospect of Europa League football is another big draw to Loftus-Cheek as he will be able to showcase his talent on the European stage, but the aspect of not being a guaranteed starter may put the midfielder off the move to east London.

Finally, Brentford are now looking to add Premier League experience to their inexperienced squad, with Loftus Cheek being a candidate. This would be an appealing move for Loftus-Cheek as it is a new sort of challenge in an ambitious team with Brentford, and if the midfielder is to play a more attacking role, he would relish the opportunity to link up with Ivan Toney.

However, Loftus-Cheek will be put off by the prospect of possibly fighting against relegation once again, so this is what puts this move in doubt.
