            Crystal Palace vs Leicester Prediction

Crystal Palace are still searching for a first league win of the season, and we are backing them to pick up all three points against a struggling Leicester side. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last two home games against Leicester, and they also ended last season with four wins in five at home, so their form at Selhurst Park has been strong.

Leicester tend to get off to slow starts, conceding the first goal in six of their previous seven games. Both teams should enjoy some attacking success, with the BTTS market landing in five of the last six meetings between the two teams – Crystal Palace 2-1 Leicester

Crystal Palace vs Leicester: Preview & Prediction

Crystal Palace host Leicester City at Selhurst Park on the fourth weekend of the Premier League season, with both sides still searching for a first win.

            Date: 14/09/24

            Kick-off time: 15:00

            Venue: Selhurst Park

After ending last season with six wins in seven under new manager Oliver Glasner, there was plenty of optimism and excitement surrounding Palace heading into this campaign. However, it has not gone quite to plan with just one point from a possible nine. They lost their first two games to fellow London sides Brentford and West Ham but picked up an impressive draw in another London derby at Chelsea.

Goals have been hard to come by for the Eagles, with just two goals scored. In their hot streak to end 23-24, they scored 21 times in seven games. They were led by top scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta, who scored 16 overall. Eberechi Eze netted 11 times and opened his account last time out with a stunning strike. Mateta has yet to get off the mark, but now has some competition for his place following the signing of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal. This should bolster their attack, particularly after the departure of Michael Olise earlier this summer.

Palace have yet to keep a clean sheet, and they will come up against a Leicester attack who has scored once in each of their three games. They have also recorded just one point, which came in the opening game against Tottenham. This season will be about staying up for the Foxes under new manager Steve Cooper after they were promoted following one season in the Championship. Jamie Vardy was their top scorer last season with 18 goals, and he showed he still has something to give by scoring the equaliser against Spurs.

The hosts should be confident in turning it around soon due to the quality of their squad but they will be desperate to pick up the first three points to ensure they do not fall behind. A victory would put them ahead of their opponents, though anything less could see them fall into the bottom three. The same can be said for Leicester, who will likely spend the season in the bottom area of the table.

There is not much to split the two teams historically, with Leicester winning 30 games to Palace’s 28 with 21 draws. However, it has been much more one-sided in recent meetings with four Leicester wins and three draws in the last eight. The latest game between the pair was a Palace win in 2023, as they narrowly beat the Foxes 2-1 at Selhurst Park. The three points came dramatically as the hosts came from behind and scored a 90th-minute winner through Mateta.

            Form Guide

            Crystal Palace:

In their last five games, Crystal Palace have won one, drawn two and lost two. It has been a mixed start to the Premier League season for Palace, as they were defeated in their opening pair of games. The first was a trip to fellow London side Brentford, where they lost 2-1. Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring before Ethan Pinnock's own goal levelled the score. Yoanne Wissa netted the winner with 15 minutes to go.

Their first home game resulted in a 2-0 loss in another London derby, this time against West Ham. Two goals in five second-half minutes from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen condemned them to defeat. Attention shifted to the EFL Cup, where they comfortably advanced to the third round with a 4-0 win over Norwich. Daichi Kamada, Jean-Philippe Mateta (x2) and Ismaila Sarr were on the scoresheet.

Last time out, they picked up a big 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. Nicolas Jackson had given the hosts the lead, but a stunning finish from Eberechi Eze just after the restart ensured the points were shared. This run of games started with a final pre-season draw with French side Nantes.

            Leicester City:

In their last five games, Leicester have won one, drawn one and lost three. It has been a tough return to life in the Premier League for the Foxes, but they made a good start with a 1-1 draw at home to Tottenham in their opener. The visitors dominated in the first half but were only able to score one through Pedro Porro. Leicester managed to hang on and found an equaliser from Jamie Vardy shortly into the second half.

They followed this with a trip to Fulham, where they lost 2-1. An Emile Smith-Rowe goal put them behind early, but Wout Faes levelled the score before the break.

Alex Iwobi scored the winner with 20 minutes to go. Finally, they picked up their first win of the season in the EFL Cup second round. They recorded a 4-0 victory against Tranmere with goals from Jordan Ayew, Stephy Mavididi, Wilfred Ndidi and Harry Winks. Before the international break, they welcomed Aston Villa to the King Power. It resulted in another defeat as Amadou Onana and Jhon Duran scored either side of half-time. Facundo Buonanotte halved the deficit but his side were unable to complete a comeback. The first game of this run was a final pre-season friendly in which they lost 3-0 to Lens.
