Premier League Unbeaten Season Odds (2026/27)

The Premier League season has produced many memorable title races, but only one team has ever finished a season without a single defeat. In 2003‑04 Arsenal went 26–12-0, collecting 26 wins and 12 draws to win the title and earn the “Invincibles” nickname.

Their unbeaten run stretched to 49 top‑flight matches across three seasons, still the longest in Premier League history. Since then, only Liverpool (44 matches between January 2019 and February 2020) and Chelsea (40 matches from October 2004 to October 2005) have come close.

With the new season now underway, we take a look at the teams who could go unbeaten this season.

Arsenal finally reached the pinnacle of English football once again last season, after a 22-year drought for the Gunners. The capture of the league title showed the virtue of patience with Mikel Arteta's project, as they reached the summit at the top of the Premier League. The next task for the Gunners will be to retain the Premier League, which had become a difficult task for Liverpool to accomplish last time out, with only three teams in Premier League history managing to retain the crown (Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United).

Arsenal are the only team in the Premier League to have ever recorded an unbeaten season, when they achieved this feat back in the 2003/04 season under Arsene Wenger. Mikel Arteta has the luxury of defensive options, where no matter the combination, they still have the best defensive depth in the Premier League.

Unsurprisingly, the foundation for Arsenal's league title last season was their defensive prowess, which led them to 19 clean sheets from 38 matches.

Pep Guardiola's reign at Manchester City reached its end last season, as the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager called time on his time at the Etihad Stadium following the most successful period in the club's history. Similarly to Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, the adjustment period for Manchester City will be difficult under new manager Enzo Maresca.

One could argue, though, that the squad and resources available at Manchester City are much greater than what befell Arsenal and Manchester United back in the day, and that's why we have gone with Manchester City to win the Premier League this campaign.

The Citizens ran Arsenal close in the title race last season, finishing seven points behind the Gunners and that was in large part to Manchester City dropping points at the likes of Everton and Bournemouth late on in the season. Enzo Maresca has Premier League experience with his time at Chelsea and should find the transition into Manchester City relatively straightforward.

As for their chances of going unbeaten, Manchester City are off the mark with a late 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth. It will take time for Manchester City to adapt under Enzo Maresca and the Citizens have a difficult start to the season, with Crystal Palace away (see prediction here) and a Manchester Derby at Old Trafford to contend with.

Andoni Iraola was one of the most sought-after managers from the Premier League after guiding Bournemouth to a European finish last season, and now the former Cherries manager is in the dugout at Anfield ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Last season, Arne Slot's Liverpool side underperformed given their league success the year prior, with many of their established stars, such as the departing Mohamed Salah, underperforming by his high standards. The Reds scraped their way to 5th place last season, but more is expected to come of the Reds, especially with Iraola in charge.

This season, we should see the likes of Florian Wirtz featured more prominently in Iraola's system and the return of Alexander Isak should provide enough firepower needed for the Reds.

Liverpool still need a defensive midfielder and wide options, but on the latter, the Reds are looking to acquire the services of Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds have come closest out of anyone in the 21st country to match Arsenal's unbeaten run of 49 with 44 unbeaten between January 2019 and February 2020 and in 2019/20 they had won 25 of their first 26 league fixtures.
