Super 6 Predictions

Stoke City 0-3 Brighton

On Saturday, Stoke City faces off against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup, with the visitors firmly coming in as favourites.

The Potters enter this match with just one win in their last five, with that sole victory coming via a 3-1 scoreline against Birmingham City on Boxing Day who were managed by Wayne Rooney. Away from that sole victory, Stoke have only accumulated two goals across their other four matches against West Brom, Millwall, Watford and Ipswich Town.

Brighton managed to beat Stoke 1-0 in last season’s edition of the FA Cup, a scoreline that we have predicted Roberto De Zerbi’s side to better by one goal this time out. Prior to their 0-0 draw with West Ham in midweek, the Seagulls looked back to their best having thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 4-2.

QPR 0-2 AFC Bournemouth

An out-of-form QPR side hosts AFC Bournemouth at Loftus Road on Saturday in what is expected to be a mismatch.

The home side sit 23rd in the Championship and have managed just five wins in 26 league matches while leaking 37 goals.

On the other hand, Bournemouth were on an impressive run of form before their 3-1 loss at Tottenham on the weekend, as Andoni Iraola’s men won six and drawn one of their last seven Premier League fixtures, catapulting the Cherries up to 12th in the table and in a position to threaten the European qualification places.

Chelsea 2-0 Preston North End

Chelsea goes up against Preston North End on Saturday with Mauricio Pochettino’s men predicted to record a routine victory.

The Blues have managed to find some form of late, having won four of their last five matches, beating Sheffield United 2-0, Newcastle 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, as well as Crystal Palace and Luton by 2-1 and 3-2 scorelines.

Preston’s bright start to the campaign has somewhat slipped off having lost four of their last five matches, with Ryan Lowe’s men losing their last two matches to nil against Sunderland ans Sheffield Wednesday by 2-0 and 1-0 scorelines, hence why we are predicting Chelsea to earn a 2-0 victory here.

Middlesbrough 1-2 Aston Villa

Middlesbrough versus Aston Villa should be an intriguing FA Cup match-up, with the visitors aiming to reach the Fourth Round of the FA Cup for the first time since the 2015/16 season.

Michael Carrick’s side are known for playing good football, however, they have also been unpredictable of late, as despite winning 3-0, 1-0 and 2-1 against Port Vale, West Brom and Huddersfield Town, they have also suffered shock 1-0 and 3-1 defeats to Rotherham United and Coventry City.

The Villans will be happy just to break their Third Round duck, with Unai Emery’s men entering this fixture on a run of two victories in five matches, having drawn 1-1 with Zrinjski and Sheffield United on either side of a 2-1 win over Brentford, before losing 3-2 to Manchester United and earning a late 3-2 victory over Burnley on 30th December.

Man City 5-0 Huddersfield

The holders of the competition Manchester City take on Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium in what is expected to be a complete mismatch between the two sides.

Pep Guardiola’s men look to have refound their form, having won all of their last four matches, which is in stark contrast to Huddersfield, who have only recorded one victory in five, following their heavy 4-1 defeat at Leicester City on New Year’s Day.

City are known to be ruthless when playing lower league opposition in cup competitions having thrashed the likes of then-Championship leaders Burnley 6-0 in the quarter-finals last season and could ultimately put Huddersfield to the sword here.

Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

The final game on this week’s Super 6 is the marquee game of the weekend in the FA Cup, as record-winners Arsenal go head-to-head with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

These two sides recently played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Anfield on 23rd December, however, we expected the home side to emerge victorious, as Liverpool have failed to win any of their last three meetings with the Gunners and will be without the likes of Mohamed Salah as the Egyptian prepares to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.

Arsenal won the last meeting between these two at the Emirates Stadium by a 3-2 scoreline on 9th October and we expect this to be a lower-scoring affair this time out due to both sides making a series of defensive-minded improvements since.
