      Tottenham vs Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea will welcome the trip to Tottenham having won both meetings with their London rivals last season and considering they are in good form coming into the match. The Blues are currently the division’s top scorers with the only time they failed to score in the league being on the first weekend against Manchester City.

Tottenham’s campaign has really stuttered of late and they are missing key players at the back which only further serves Chelsea’s chances of picking up all three points in this game. This is a fixture Spurs have suffered in with just one win in their last 11 against the Blues in all competitions.

With Chelsea full of confidence and scoring plenty, it’s hard to see beyond them keeping up their strong record in this clash. Despite their poor form, Spurs’ failure to score against Bournemouth last time out was the first time they hadn’t netted in eight games while Chelsea have just one league clean sheet in their last nine. The hosts should score, but that might not be enough to take anything from this match. Tottenham 1-2 Chelsea

Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview and Prediction

Tottenham vs Chelsea was one of the standout fixtures of the last campaign with disallowed goals, two red cards, an unfathomably high Tottenham defensive line and a hat-trick for visiting striker Nicolas Jackson. Will something similar play out this time?

      • Location: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Tottenham will see the visit of Chelsea on Sunday as a chance to get their stuttering season back on track however based on the form of both sides, that is expected to be an uphill task. Nothing sums up Spurs’ inconsistency more than the fact their only win in their last six was the 4-0 victory at Champions Manchester City.

Ange Postecoglou has not been helped by the large number of key absences in his side with his first-choice centre-back pairing and his number-one goalkeeper currently unavailable. That will undoubtedly have an impact on how this game pans out as well.

Attacking players such as Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Brennan Johnson have all shone in spells for Spurs but much like the collective, their performances have lacked consistency making it difficult for Tottenham to be bailed out by individual brilliance when things aren’t going well. Given the injury crisis at the back for Postecoglou’s side, there is an emphasis on the offensive players stepping up to ensure any deficiencies are masked but they aren’t hitting the required heights.

Whilst things aren’t so smooth for the hosts, visitors Chelsea travel to Tottenham in good form with many tipping them as dark horses in the title race. Enzo Maresca’s side go into the weekend second in the table while no team has scored more goals than the Blues.

The wealth of attacking options at Maresca’s disposal gives him plenty of opportunity to rotate, as seen on Wednesday in the win over Southampton, with Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku getting rare league starts. Perhaps the directness of Jackson and Pedro Neto to drive at and go in behind this Tottenham defence will prove beneficial at the weekend given the high line the hosts like to operate with and the absences they have at the back.

The star of the Chelsea show is still Cole Palmer though, with the English midfielder currently Chelsea’s top league scorer (9) and top provider of assists (6). The former Manchester City man scored and registered an assist in this fixture last season, so expect him to have an influence on this game.

      Tottenham vs Chelsea Team News

Chelsea have no fresh injury news with Reece James and Wesley Fofana their only absentees.

Tottenham’s injury list includes first choice centre backs Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven as well as number one goalkeeper Vicario whilst Rodrigo Bentancur is still suspended. Ben Davies went off injured in the defeat to Bournemouth last time out so he is doubtful for this game.

      Recent Form/Form Guide

Tottenham come into this match in miserable form with just one win in their last six, the 4-0 thumping of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. A 3-2 defeat in the Europa League to Galatasaray started the rot and that has been followed by defeats to Ipswich Town and Bournemouth and draws with Fulham and Roma.

Chelsea come into the game unbeaten in their last seven in all competitions with four wins from their last four against Southampton, Aston Villa, Heidenheim and Leicester City. An 8-0 win over FC Noah in the Conference League was sandwiched between two league draws against Manchester United and Arsenal.
