West Ham vs Arsenal Prediction

Both of these sides are coming into this game on the back of two impressive results; however, Arsenal's recent upturn in form since the international break should put them in good stead against West Ham United.

The Gunners have won both of their fixtures since the break, including a 5-1 win over Sporting CP to end their unbeaten run of 18 games. Arsenal have no losses in their previous three and have shown a great potency in front of goal by scoring first in six of the last eight.

The Hammers’ home record is less than desirable, with two wins in their last five games at the London Stadium, and the hosts lost this fixture 6-0 last season. The hosts have also won two of their previous five overall.

For these reasons, we can’t see anything other than an Arsenal win in this game and by a comfortable scoreline.

West Ham 1-3 Arsenal

West Ham vs Arsenal Preview & Prediction

A London derby awaits on Saturday as Arsenal travel to the London Stadium looking to capitalise on the game between Liverpool and Manchester City on Sunday.

Date: 30/11/2024
Location: London Stadium, London.
Kick-Off: 5.30 pm

West Ham United have been a mixed bag this season, as the Hammers are sat in mid-table after 12 games played. However, some of the performances have led fans and pundits to question the appointment of Julen Lopetegui. The Hammers have suffered terrible defeats to the likes of Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur, but in the meantime, they have also produced results against Manchester United and Newcastle United. The hosts are 14th in the Premier League with 15 points from 12 games, scoring 15 and conceding 19. A win would move them above teams like Manchester United and Brentford should results fall in their favour.

On the other hand, Arsenal are looking to restore their potential title ambitions with a win over the London Stadium. The Gunners are in third place, nine points behind league leaders Liverpool. However, a unique opportunity could present at the weekend, should Liverpool and Manchester City take points off each other. Arsenal can narrow the gap to six points between them and the leaders.

The two meetings between the two sides were evenly split, with each side recording a victory over each other in the respective away fixture.

Where to watch

The game will be shown on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

Team News

Mohammed Kudus remains unavailable through suspension for West Ham United. Edson Alvarez returns from suspension and will be available for Julen Lopetegui at the weekend.

Benjamin White will be unavailable for several months following a knee injury.

Form Guide

The recent history between the two sides suggests an evenly close game on paper despite what the league standings suggest. The results have been shared in the last five meetings, with two wins, two draws and a loss for either side. At least two goals have been scored by the victor of each fixture in the previous five, with Over 2.5 goals being scored in six of the last eight meetings. Interestingly, there has only been one dismissal in the previous eight meetings, when Vladimir Coufal was dismissed for a second bookable offence in 2021.

The Hammers will hope for improvement and consistency coming into this game. Julen Lopetegui’s side have won two of their previous five at the London Stadium, which did include the damning defeat for Erik ten Hag in his final game as Manchester United manager. This season, the hosts have averaged 1.17 points per game at home, whilst their away record boasts a 1.33 points per game average. This is evidenced by their win over Newcastle United on Monday.

West Ham United have only won twice in their previous five games, and at home this season, the Hammers have at least averaged 1.33 goals per game. However, they have been less than adequate defensively, having only kept a 17% clean sheet rate.

In their most recent home game, the Hammers were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Everton, in which neither side looked capable of winning. West Ham United found success in their most recent game against Newcastle United as goals from Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan Bissaka found the target for Julen Lopetegui’s side.

Since the International break, Arsenal have won their last two against Nottingham Forest and Sporting CP. Those victories have steadied the Gunners, considering their form was mixed before the break. Arsenal are now unbeaten in their previous three, including the Stamford Bridge draw away before the break. At home, Arsenal have shown dominance with four wins and two draws, although the Gunners will need to improve away from home. Arsenal have won twice, drawn twice and lost twice, and only averaged 1.33 points per game on their travels.

In their most recent away game, Arsenal recorded a 5-1 victory in the Champions League against Sporting CP, a superb display by the Gunners. League-wise, Arsenal recorded a win over Nottingham Forest with goals from Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey and Ethan Nwaneri securing a 3-0 win for Arsenal.
