On Saturday night Atlanta United take on Columbus Crew at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in what is a battle of 10th versus sixth in the Eastern Conference of the MLS.
The hosts will be managed by an interim manager in Rob Valentino, following the sacking of former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze following just two wins in their opening 14 matches.
Atlanta haven’t won since they beat CF Montreal 1-0 back on 16th May via a 94th minute Marcelino Moreno strike. Since then, they have gone nine matches without a win following their disappointing 1-1 draw with Cincinnati last time out where a Ronald Hernandez strike with 20 minutes to go rescued United a point, having fallen behind to Luciano Acosta’s 61st-minute opener.
Meanwhile, the Crew aren’t particularly in great form either, having won just one of their last six games which was fairly recently in a narrow 2-1 victory against New York City FC at their new home, Lower.com Field which was only opened on 3rd July.
The last meeting between these two sides was back in early November last year where the MLS champions came out on top as they beat Atlanta 2-1 at the Historic Crew Stadium where Lucas Zelarayan and Gyasi Zardes both got their names on the scoresheet.
Prediction: Atlanta United 2 – 2 Columbus Crew 12/1
