Arsenal are hoping to make just the second Champions League final in their history this week as they take on Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final tie.
With the scoreline finely balanced at 1-1, it's set to be quite the occasion on Tuesday night. Mikel Arteta's side will feel aggrieved not be heading into the game with a one-goal lead having been denied a clear penalty late on at the Metropolitano last week.
The Gunners, though, produced one of their most impressive performances of the season in response on Saturday as they hammered Fulham 3-0. Arsenal were electric in the first half and were powered by a renewed Bukayo Saka, who looked much closer to his usual self. An in-form Saka, who recorded a goal and an assist against Fulham, gives Arsenal's attack a whole new dimension. If they can keep him fresh for the run-in, their trophy prospects will be greatly enhanced.
Arsenal will be more than aware of the gravity of the occasion on Tuesday but the wind will be firmly in their sails after the weekend. They've won nine of their last 12 games at home and despite the quality of their opponent, they'll back themselves to come out on top.
Atletico, meanwhile, are hoping to reach their third Champions League final under Diego Simeone. The Spanish club, though, may feel as though they missed an opportunity on front of their own fans last week and now need to win at what will be a raucous Emirates on Tuesday.
Atletico's form isn't particularly impressive, with Simeone's side losing six of their last ten games. Many feel as though they're fortunate to be in the semi-finals having been outplayed by Barcelona over two legs in the last eight, ultimately being helped by a pair of Barcelona red cards.
Their away form is fairly worrying ahead of this one with Los Rojiblancos losing five of their last seven games on the road. They were beaten 4-0 at the Emirates when the two sides met earlier in the season and while the scoreline is unlikely to be that comprehensive this time, we think the Gunners will get the job done.
