One of the all-Premier League ties in the Third Round of the League Cup sees Brighton make the trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United for what should prove to be a very entertaining 90 minutes or more.
United's mini unbeaten run of three matches across all competitions came to a halt at the weekend as they went down 1-0 in their own backyard to local rivals Manchester City. Brighton, on the other hand, secured yet another big win as they thrashed Coventry City 5-0 away to make it three wins, two draws and just one defeat from their opening six matches in league and cup.
The Seagulls arrive in the North West full of confidence as they have won four of their last five trips to Old Trafford in all competitions, claiming a 2-1 victory in the FA Cup back in January.
Man Utd have looked strong at home up until that narrow defeat to a City side that played most of the match with 10-men, but their record against Brighton at home will certainly provide cause for concern for Michael Carrick.
We're backing goals in this game as three of United's last four matches have produced over 3.5 goals, including a seven-goal thriller in their first home game of the season against Ipswich Town.
Brighton have played six games in league and cup so far this season, and four of those games have featured over 3.5 goals, with the Seagulls scoring three or more goals on each occasion.
This match should prove to be close and competitive as long as nobody makes too many changes to their starting lineups, and we're backing Brighton to come out on top once again at Old Trafford.
Manchester United 2-3 Brighton
