Two of the Championship's most out-of-form teams will clash at St. Andrew's on Saturday with Wayne Rooney in desperate need for a win once again at Birmingham City as they play hosts to Rotherham United.
Given the form of Rooney's side since the former Derby County manager took over and given Rotherham's form so far, anything but a win for the ex-England captain would all but spell the end of his career in the Midlands already. In fact, the Blues head into this game with one win under Rooney that came over Sheffield Wednesday at home.
However, with one draw and five defeats, Rooney now comes into the match with a win percentage of 14.4% since taking over in October. Alongside that sole win over Wednesday for Rooney, he has led his side to defeats over Middlesbrough, Hull City, Southampton, Southampton and Blackburn Rovers just a handful of days ago.
As for Rotherham, they are down in 23rd and are only not bottom of the table because of Wednesday's woeful form that sees them in last place on seven points. On the other hand, the Millers already see a gap of seven points on Huddersfield Town in the safe spot of 21st, and with just two wins and 10 losses, they are once again set for a fight to survive in the Championship.
Rotherham lost to Hull City during the week where Grant Hall scored a goal from defence, but this did extend their winless run to six games since beating Coventry City 2-0 at home. During this period, the Millers have even lost to Sheffield Wednesday away from home, while they've drawn with fellow strugglers Queens Park Rangers as well. The club have also drawn with Ipswich Town and Leeds United, and given their spots in the league, that is commendable. However, a 5-0 battering from Watford also came before the international break.
