Two sides that sorely need three points lock horns in the EFL Championship this weekend as Blackburn Rovers meet Queens Park Rangers.
Blackburn Rovers currently sit 18th in the EFL Championship with ten wins, three draws and fifteen losses from twenty-eight games this season.
It’s been a grim campaign for the Lancashire club who’ve been one of the league’s biggest disappointments given their inability to build on last season’s campaign that saw them finish outside of the top six on goal difference only.
An awful run of form has seen them fall down into the relegation battle as they come into this game winless in their last seven league games with only one win in their last ten.
Their most recent league game was a hugely disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Huddersfield Town where Rovers were unable to break down a side on the edge of the relegation zone on their own patch.
It was a worrying result that confirms Rovers’ status as a relegation contender and means they come into this one in desperate need of three points.
They have at least been enjoying a good run in the FA Cup, where Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side confirmed their place in the fifth round of the competition on Monday night with a convincing and domineering 4-1 win over Wrexham thanks to goals from Sammie Szmodics (X2), Sam Gallagher and Sondre Tronstad.
Three points is long overdue for Blackburn and they’ve won all of their last four head-to-head meetings with QPR, so if they can’t get a win here it’s hard to see where their next one is going to come from.
Queens Park Rangers currently sit 22nd in the EFL Championship with six wins, seven draws and sixteen losses from twenty-nine games this season.
The Rs have had yet another tough campaign and find themselves well inside the relegation zone beyond the halfway point of the season.
They’re coming into this game in poor form having won just one of their last nine games in the league, the most recent of which was a 1-1 draw that saw the Hoops rescue a point with a Kenneth Paal equaliser in the 95th minute.
QPR have definitely improved following the arrival of Martí Cifuentes as manager but frank questions remain over whether or not that improvement will be enough to see them avoid relegation.
QPR have won only one of their last ten league games on the road and given their recent record against Blackburn it feels unlikely they’ll come away from this game with a win.
For our Blackburn vs. QPR prediction, we’re going for a 2-1 win for the home side.
