Two sides that have enjoyed a good start to their 2023/24 campaign meet at Ashton Gate this weekend as Bristol City host Birmingham City.
Bristol City currently sit 10th in the EFL Championship with one win and one draw from their opening two games of the season.
The Robins kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Preston North End before last weekend claiming an impressive 1-0 win away at Millwall last weekend.
Millwall were a side firmly in the play-off mix last season and are expect to contest again this time around, so taking three points at The Den was a huge statement for Bristol City.
The Robins will feel as though they were good value for the three points having registered more shots and more possession than their opponents and with the winner from Matty James coming in the 94th minute they'll be on cloud nine coming into this game.
Nigel Pearson was rocked by the departure of star player Alex Scott, who departed for Bournemouth in a £25m deal, but that was a largely expected exit.
It's now important that The Robins reinvest the money from that transfer if they want to kick on and mount a promotion push but for now they'll feel as though they're competitive enough to manage.
Birmingham City currently sit 9th in the EFL Championship with one win and one draw from their opening two matches.
The Blues began with a 1-1 draw away at Swansea City on the opening day after a good performance before beating Leeds United 1-0 at St. Andrew's last weekend.
The game in Birmingham was a pretty drab encounter for the most part but The Blues won the game in stoppage-time thanks to a penalty from Lukas Jutkiewicz to seal a big three points.
Regardless of how the points came about the win will no doubt help build momentum in The Blues' dressing room and the mood around the club is night and day in comparison to how it was coming into last season in light of new ownership.
Birmingham are fancied by many to be a threatening side this season and while they still lack a reliable goalscorer up top they have tools across the pitch that are well worthy of respect.
They're facing another side that have started in impressive fashion here and while they'll be confident of a win it could well be their toughest game yet.
For our Bristol City vs. Birmingham prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.
