Bristol City and Cardiff City meet in a mid-table battle in the Championship this weekend with only goals difference keeping the two apart with aims of a spot in the top half of the division.
Bristol are sitting in 12th with a goals difference of zero after letting in 39 and scoring the same amount. The Robins also come into this game having actually won one more game than Cardiff, despite the Bluebirds sitting two places below them down in 14th. On the other hand, Cardiff have now let in 48 goals and scored only 39 of their own too, which has also seen them win just one of their past five matches.
Bristol were beaten by Sheffield Wednesday in an away trip last time out, which in some ways, given the state of the Owls, was their worst result of the season. Further defeats in February saw the Robins lose at home to another struggling side, Queens Park Rangers, while they also suffered another home defeat to Leeds United at the start of last month. On the other hand, a 3-1 win over Southampton at Ashton Gate and a 2-1 win at the Riverside Stadium against Middlesbrough has still launched Bristol into the top half of the table.
Cardiff come into this game knowing a spot in the top half is up for grabs, should other results with the likes of Boro go their way. What's more, the club have also already defeated Bristol after Perry Ng and Rubin Colwill scored a goal each in a 2-0 win.
Cardiff did also get a win over the past weekend by beating Stoke City in a narrow 2-1 victory with thanks to a first half goal each from Karlan Grant and Kion Etete. A draw with Blackburn also means a two-game unbeaten run for the South Wales outfit, but they did suffer losses away to Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion before this and were also beaten by Preston North End at home. On the other hand, a fantastic 1-0 away win at Vicarage Road over Watford shows what the Bluebirds are capable of.
A close game is expected given the form of the two and with this being at home to Bristol, where they have lost twice in the past four home games. Nevertheless, expect both teams to score at least.
