Burnley vs. Wigan Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Burnley vs. Wigan prediction, we're going for a 3-0 win for the home side.

Two sides at opposite ends of the Championship table this weekend as Burnley host Wigan Athletic.

Burnley currently sit top of the Championship with twenty-two wins, eleven draws and two losses from thirty-five games this season.

The Clarets have taken the Championship by storm this season and are surging back towards the Premier League as they have a seventeen point lead over Middlesbrough in 3rd. The only questions remaining for Vincent Kompany's side are whether or not they can win the league title and if they can do so by a record points total.

They enter this game in good form having won three and drawn two of their last five matches in the league, the most recent of which was a 0-0 draw against Blackpool.

At Turf Moor their home has been impervious, with The Clarets reigning unbeaten on their own patch for the entirety of this season having also won four of their last five on home soil.

Burnley are unstoppable domestically this season and not only will they win promotion but they'll almost certainly win this game.

Wigan Athletic currently sit rock bottom of the Championship table with seven wins, eleven draws and seventeen losses from thirty-five games this season.

The Latics have had a tough season back in the Championship following promotion from League One last time out and currently look on course to make an immediate return back to England's third tier.

They enter this game amidst a typically poor run of form having drawn three and lost two of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion.

Performances have improved since Shaun Maloney replaced Kolo Toure in the Wigan dugout, but they need too find a way to convert some ion their draws to wins if they are to survive this season.

The Latics were hammered 1-5 by Burnley when the sides last met back in August and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if the emphatic nature of that scoreline was repeated here. Either way, Wigan will likely slump to another defeat this weekend.

          Burnley Team News

The Clarets are suffering with their fair share of injuries with the likes of Jay Rodriguez, Ian Maatsen, Josh Brownhill, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Benson Manuel all set to be absent.

Scott Twine could be handed a start here in Brownhill's absence.

          Wigan Team News

Jason Kerr, Miguel Azeez and Martin Kelly will all be out for The Latics this weekend.

Jack Whatmough and Thelo Aasgaard are both pushing for places in the starting XI.
