Coventry City are still going strong in their efforts to get into the playoffs this season with the club drawing once more in midweek ahead of the visit from a Reading side who are suddenly fighting for their life in the Championship.
It's been a dismal season for the Royals in 2022/23 and they now head into the final few games of the season with Noel Hunt at the helm and without a win since beating Blackpool back in February. They've managed to concede 11 goals since that game and now come into this game off the back of two draws in a row, after a 0-0 home draw with Burnley and a 1-1 home draw with Luton Town.
Although it can be seen as four points dropped, in the current form against two sides in the top four, it should be seen as two points picked up for a Reading side who now sit in 22nd and are staring in the face of a drop into League One.
The club are now behind Queens Park Rangers in the safe spots of the Championship by one point having now lost 20 times in the league and let in 63 goals. It still means there is everything to play for with Reading, and they have a favourable run-in after this tough trip to the Midlands.
The Royals will meet with Wigan Athletic at home, who sit bottom of the table and who will most likely be relegated by the time they play next weekend. Huddersfield will be the final game for Reading this season and as they sit in 20th and one point clear, that game could end up being a must-win clash to avoid a drop into the third tier.
As for Coventry, they will still be living off the high of drawing 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers in midweek, as goalkeeper Ben Wilson netted in the 95th minute of the game in what can only be described as one of the most chaotic ends to a game in recent Football League history.
The goal was, however, quite controversial, and should VAR have been in play in the Championship, it would no doubt have ruled the goal out for a handball before Wilson scrambled it over the line.
Coventry do now sit behind Blackburn in sixth by two points and there is still a huge chance they can work their way into the playoffs this season, but a win here seems vital because of the games in hand for sides above them.
