The Robins travel to Leeds this weekend, where they will face Daniel Farke’s side. The visitors are the underdogs and they will be looking to cause an upset.
Leeds
After being relegated from the Premier League, the Whites faithful will have wished for a more convincing start to their Championship campaign, where the only goal is promotion. Ten games into the season and Leeds sit in 6th place with 16 points, but they have been left frustrated on multiple occasions due to not being able to get over the line, in games they should be winning. They are solid at the back, however Farke’s team have struggled for creativity and they’ve been wasteful at times this season.
Last time out, Leeds just edged 22nd placed QPR, beating them 1-0 at Elland Road. Crysencio Summerville opened the scoring in the ninth minute and from that point on, they dominated the game, enjoying 66% of the possession. However, they weren’t able to add to their tally despite showing attacking intent throughout.
Bristol City
The Robins have been going under the radar slightly this season but they find themselves in 11th place after ten matches. Nigel Pearson’s side have focused on creating strong defensive foundations that will keep his side in the game. The system of counter attacking and defensive security is built perfectly for away days, which is why Bristol City have the fourth best away record in the league, picking up 10 points from five matches.
We saw this in action this week when they beat Rotherham 2-1 away from home. The game was rather dull for almost the entire ninety minutes, until Tommy Conway opened the scoring in the 81st minute. Rotherham then equalised six minutes later, but Conway was there once again in the 96th minute to secure a massive victory.
Verdict?
This game should be close and at times, it may be a match of attack versus defence, with Leeds attempting to breach Bristol. I do think they have enough quality to do so, but the Robins can also hurt them on the break.
The final prediction is Leeds 1-1 Bristol City.
