Plymouth Argyle are back in the Championship for the first time since the 2009/10 season and play hosts to Huddersfield Town on the opening day with the Terriers aiming to move on from a dreadful campaign last time out.
Huddersfield had a terrible campaign last time out, and in reality, they were very close to replacing Plymouth in League One. In the end, Huddersfield did finish nine points above the relegation zone but are still in need of proving to fans that this was just a one-off after getting into the playoffs the year prior. As well as this, the Terries spent more time in the relegation zone than Reading, who were relegated to League One.
The club were also the third-lowest scorers in the Championship last campaign with only 47 goals scored and 62 let in as well. The club would go on to lose 31 times as well, and only those in the bottom four suffered more defeats.
Fans will, however, be pleased to see Neil Warnock remain at the helm of the club for at least another year, and his presence already sees Huddersfield priced at 4/1 to go down. The Terriers would meet with Tavistock in the preseason games, drawing with them 0-0 before a 1-0 victory over Heerenveen.
As for Plymouth, they went on a record-breaking run in League One last season by winning 31 of the 46 games and finishing with 101 points in what was arguably the greatest League One promotion race in recent memory. In fact, Sheffield Wednesday in third finished on 96 points, and this still wasn't enough to put them in the automatic promotion spots.
