Queens Park Rangers will be desperate for a win this weekend when they meet with Birmingham City at Loftus Road after their worst loss of the season pulled them closer to the relegation zone than ever before as the Blues also suffered a midweek defeat.
QPR were battered from pillar to post against the relegation-sitting Blackpool last time out and they have now been brought to within seven points of the Tangerines in 22nd place. Worse yet, there are no more games in hand to play over the club and it was also the 17th loss of the season for the London outfit.
A further 11 wins and nine draws alongside 58 goals let in now is the worst record the R's have had at this stage in a Championship campaign since dropping back into the second tier back in 2015. In fact, with 58 goals let in, the club have the joint-worst defensive record alongside the 23rd-placed Wigan Athletic in the division. At the same time, only two other sides in the Football League have let in more than them.
QPR went 3-0 down to Blackpool inside just 14 minutes, making it the most goals scored inside the first 15 minutes of a game this season for any EFL club. It was made 4-0 just before Chris Martin scored in the 43rd minute, although two more goals brought home a 6-1 scoreline for the Loftus Road outfit.
As for Birmingham, earlier goals were their Achilles heel as well, as two goals from Watford inside the first 16 minutes forced a 2-0 scoreline before a late finish made it 3-0. The Blues are above QPR in the table still, but they are within seven points of the bottom three themselves as a result and sit above the R's by only goals difference - they have scored three more goals and let in eight less. Both teams have won 11 games and lost 17 and drawn nine.
