An all-London affair over in the Championship sees two of the division's struggling sides look to kick on 2024 after a woeful first half of the season sees the two sides rooted in the bottom half of the table as Queens Park Rangers hosts Millwall
Although Millwall don't have much to shout about at all, it is currently Queens Park Rangers who head into this game down in the relegation zone and with a gap of five points already to make up on Huddersfield Town in the safe spot of 21st. The R's have had one of their worst-ever Championship seasons in history, and with only 22 goals netted from 27 games, the club have the second lowest goals scored record in the competition so far - only Sheffield Wednesday have netted fewer.
39 goals conceded, however, puts them in a much better place defensively, but after another 2-1 loss against Watford, QPR are now winless in their past eight games since beating Hull City 2-0 at the start of December. A 0-0 draw with Plymouth Argyle would follow before a terrible loss to fellow relegation fighters, Wednesday.
Yet another home defet would get tallied up when QPR hosted Southampton and lost shortly after, as the London side also lost to their weekend opponents in the following game, as Millwall beat them 2-0 at The Den - Tom Bradshaw and Murray Wallace scored a goal each that day.
Things have continued to get worse in January, as Cardiff defeated them at home before Bournemouth of the Premier League managed to do the same in the FA Cup third round 3-2, as Sinclair Armstrong and Lyndon Dykes netted a goal each. However, QPR did manage to get a commendable draw away to the promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
Millwall are struggling greatly this year in contrast to the previous campaigns that have seen them challenge for the playoff spots in recent years. They are sitting 16th right now with only three more wins on the board than QPR. One of those victories was over the R's on Boxing Day, but with an eight-point gap on the playoffs, Millwall lost at The Den to Middlesbrough last weekend and lost another home game to Leicester City in the FA Cup third round before that.
On the other hand, the Lions did put together a three-game winning run before that by beating QPR, Norwich City and Bristol City, and alongside a 0-0 draw with Stoke City, it also meant the club registered four clean sheets in a row.
