It's one of the biggest games of the Championship season in terms of survival as Queens Park Rangers meet with Rotherham United down in the bottom three where the R's are looking significantly better.
Despite this being a battle between two teams in the relegation zone, it looks as if Rotherham's time back in the Championship is all but over, and in truth, it's felt that way for some time. The Millers come into this game with only 19 points on the board and three wins too with a stunning tally of 19 losses as well. This sees the club with 60 goals conceded from 32 games, meaning only Sheffield United in the Premier League have a worse goals conceded record this season across the Football League.
Worse yet, the gap is now 14 points on Millwall in the safe of 21st and Rotherham need nothing short of a miracle to survive within the next 14 matches. In fact, it looks like they could end up being down and out by the time we get to around the 40-game mark in the second tier.
The club lost at home once again last time out, as they suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Watford after losing to Hull City on home soil earlier that week. Combine this with a 2-0 defeat to Southampton and a 1-0 defeat at home to Stoke City and it now means four losses in a row for Rotherham since a 1-1 draw against Sunderland at the AESSEAL New York Stadium and a 1-0 win against Middlesbrough here too.
As for QPR, things look a little better for them in 2023/24 with just a one-point gap on Millwall in the safe spots of the Championship. However, the club are also experieicning their worst Championship season in recent memory with only eight wins on the board and 17 defeats too. In fact, they have scored only four more goals than Rotherham coming into this match.
The R's managed ton get back to winning ways by beating Bristol City at Ashton Gate last time out thanks to a first half goal from Ilias Chair. This ended a run of two games without a win for QPR after a 2-2 home draw with Norwich City and a 1-0 loss away to Stoke City. They have, however, already managed to win at Blackburn Rovers this month, while they even got a commendable draw against Ipswich Town earlier in 2024 and have already beaten fellow strugglers Millwall in the past month.
