For our Reading vs. Sheffield United prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.
Sheffield United are hoping to fend off the challenge of those below them as they face Reading in the Championship this week.
Reading currently sit 15th in the Championship with thirteen wins, five draws and sixteen losses from thirty-four games this season.
The Royals have had an up and down campaign but after a brief worry amidst a terrible run of form they appear to be en route to comfortable mid table finish under Paul Ince.
They enter this game amidst a mixed run of form having won two and lost three of their last five matches, the most recent of which was a comprehensive 5-0 battering at Middlesbrough.
Boro are 3rd in the league and are flying so there's little shame in losing to them, but the manner of the defeat will be hugely concerning given they were played off the park.
The defeat confirmed sixth consecutive defeat away from home for Reading, but fortunately their home form has been much more positive having won five and drawn two of their last seven on home soil.
Reading's season has largely petered out into insignificance at this point as they sit twelve points clear of the relegation zone and eleven points shy of the play-offs. That might play into Sheffield United's hands here, but either way this will be a tough game for The Royals.
Sheffield United currently sit 2nd in the Championship with nineteen wins, seven draws and eight losses from thirty-four games this season.
The Blades have had a successful campaign in the Championship so far as they look to make it through the final stretch of the campaign and seal automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
They enter this game amidst a mixed run of form having won two and lost three of their last five matches in all competitions, with their most recent game a 1-0 defeat away at Blackburn Rovers.
The loss at Blackburn was a disappointing but deserved one as they were largely outfought by a more motivated side.
The loss meant The Blades are now winless in their last four games away from home, a run that will concern manager Paul Heckingbottom.
Sheffield United battered Reading 4-0 when the two sides met in the league back in August, but given their away form combined with Reading's home form a repeat result feels unlikely here.
The Blades are four points clear of Middlesbrough in 3rd and have a chance to open up a seven point gap if they win this, their game in hand, on Tuesday. They need a big away performance but they're certainly capable of it.
