Reading vs. Watford Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Reading vs. Watford prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.

Watford are looking to get their promotion push back on track as they travel to face Reading in the Championship this weekend.

Reading currently sit 16th in the Championship with eleven wins, four draws and thirteen losses from twenty-eight games this season.

The Royals have had a tough last few months in the league and have tailed off considerably after an electric start had them looking like early automatic promotion contenders under Paul Ince.

They enter this game amidst a poor run of form having failed to win any of their last four in the league while winning only one of their last six.

Reading's last two games have both ended in heavy defeats with The Royals losing 4-0 at Stoke City in the league before losing 3-1 at Old Trafford to Manchester United in the FA Cup last time out.

Their home record is much more encouraging, however, with Paul Ince's side winning three, drawing one and losing one of their last five league matches on home soil.

Reading's season is likely now heading for a mid-table finish, but having signed promising Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei from Chelsea on loan they can hope an injection of quality will improve their standing going forward. This is a tough game but by no means unwindable given their home form.

Watford are currently 5th in the Championship with twelve wins, eight draws and nine losses from twenty-nine games this season.

The Hornets have had a mixed season for the most part and changed managers back in September when Rob Edwards was replaced by Slaven Bilic, and while their form has improved they're still short of what was initially expected of them this season.

They enter this game having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five matches in the league, the most recent of which was a 2-0 defeat away at fellow play-off contenders Middlesbrough.

Away from home Watford have been up and down of late having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five league games on the road.

The two sides have already met twice this season, with Watford winning the league encounter 2-0 at Vicarage Road back November before Reading returned the favour with a 2-0 win at this ground in the FA Cup a few weeks back.

The Hornets have a tough task here and are badly in need of a win with other play-off contenders surging. This will likely be a tight game with result tipping either way.
