Rotherham United will welcome the promotion-chasing Southampton to the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday as the Saints look to jump above Ipswich Town into second should other results got their way.
Southampton are currently behind Ipswich bu one point in the league table and head into this game with the same amount of wins as the second-placed side (17). Their goals difference is also superior, as a result of scoring two more with 53 on the board and letting in three fewer goals with 32 across 28 games.
This does mean the Saints can jump ahead of Ipswich with a win, should the Tractor Boys drop points. If Ipswich lose and Southampton draws here, they would move into second on goals difference.
Rotherham are sitting bottom of the table with only 19 points on the board. This has seen them win only three games throughout the Championship season, and there is now a gap of nine points on Huddersfield Town in the safe spots of the league.
With 15 losses on the board and a terrible record of 15 defeats too, it's now been five goals since their third win of the season in the Championship over Middlesbrough. Cohen Bramall scored from right-back that day from the only shot on target on home soil, and tey drew with Boro last time out after a loss to Fulham in third round of the FA Cup before a home defeat to Stoke City.
A further draw in the past month has seen them tie with Sunderland on home soil. Oddly enough, with Rotherham also drawing 2-2 with Ipswich and 1-1 with Leeds this season and also defeating Coventry City, the Millers head into this game with a fantastic record against those in the playoffs. In fact, they also drew with Southampton in the reverse fixture where Jordan Hugill equalised in the second half at St. Mary's. The Saints had 10 shots on target that day with 22 efforts on goal as well.
