West Brom vs Birmingham City Preview, Tips & Stats

The Hawthorns sees West Brom take on Birmingham City this Saturday. West Brom are looking to progress further into the Play-offs whereas Birmingham aim to put some more space between themselves and the relegation zone.

West Brom currently sit fifth in the Championship after 28 games. The Baggies have 13 wins, six draws and nine losses, leaving them on 45 points, two points above Coventry but 12 points from Leeds.

In their last five games in all competitions, West Brom have two wins and three losses.

After a goalless first half, Liam Cullen scored the only goal of the game in the first ten minutes of the second half to give Swansea the 1 - 0 win over West Brom. In the Third Round of the FA Cup, West Brom hosted National League Aldershot Town. Oliver Bray did manage to get on the scoresheet for Aldershot in the 95th minute, but goals from Nathaniel Chalobah, Jovan Malcolm, Daryl Dike and Tom Fellows gave West Brom the 4 - 1 win.

Back in the Championship, West Brom hosted Blackburn Rovers. Fellows opened the scoring, with a goal from Brandon Thomas-Asante and an own goal from Dominic Hyam giving The Baggies the 3 - 0 lead at halftime. Blackburn struck back through Jake Garrett, but Thomas-Asante scored again to secure the 4 - 1 win for West Brom. Josh Sargent and Jonathan Rowe both grabbed a goal in the 2 - 0 win for Norwich, despite West Brom having 61% of the possession and 15 shots.

The last time out for West Brom was in the Black Country derby in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup. Pedro Neto gave Wolves the 1 - 0 lead at halftime and a goal from Matheus Cunha gave Wolves the 2 - 0 win in fiery fashion.

Birmingham, on the other hand, currently sit 20th in the Championship. In 28 games, The Blues have eight wins, eight draws and 12 losses which leaves them on 32 points, just seven points above the relegation zone.

In their last five games in all competitions, Birmingham have two wins, two draws and one loss.

The Third Round of the FA Cup saw Birmingham take on fellow Championship side Hull City. Lukas Jutkiewicz opened the scoring for Birmingham in the 18th minute, but a goal from Matthew James Jacob in the 87th minute grabbed a 1 - 1 draw for Hull and a replay. Back in the Championship, Birmingham hosted Swansea. Harry Darling gave Swansea the lead but Siriki Dembele equalised just two minutes later. Jamal Lowe regained the lead for Swansea but Jordan James popped up in the 95th minute to secure the 2 - 2 draw for Birmingham.

The Third Round Replay saw Jason Lokilo open the scoring for Hull in just the 12th minute. However, Jay Stansfield equalised just after the hour mark and Koji Miyoshi got on the scoresheet in the 93rd minute to give Birmingham the 2 - 1 win. Stansfield found the back of the net again, this time back in the league against Stoke. Juninho Bacuna doubled the lead just after halftime and despite a goal from Jordan Thompson, Birmingham held on for another 2 - 1 win.

The most recent outing for Birmingham was in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, where they faced another Championship team, this time top of the league Leicester. Jamie Vardy, Yunus Akgun and Dennis Praet all scored in the 3 - 0 win for The Foxes.
