Coventry make the trip to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom in the Championship’s Friday Night Football this weekend. Both sides look to either retain their spot in the Play-offs or close in on one.

West Brom currently sit fifth in the Championship after 34 games. The Baggies have 16 wins, eight draws and ten losses, leaving them on 56 points, one point within the Play-offs and 11 points from Southampton.

In their last five games in all competitions, West Brom have two wins, two draws and one loss.

Tom Fellows opened the scoring for West Brom against Ipswich early on to give them the 1 - 0 lead at halftime, but Nathan Broadhead equalised one minute into the second half. John Swift regained the lead for West Brom but with a 93rd minute goal, Omari Hutchinson grabbed a 2 - 2 draw for Ipswich. The visit from Cardiff saw Michael Johnston give West Brom the lead in the first minute and Andreas Weimann wrapped up the 2 - 0 win in the 80th minute.

However, the next time out for West Brom saw Ryan Fraser and David Brooks both score to give Southampton the 2 - 0 win. West Brom bounced back against Plymouth Argyle. After a goalless first half, Cedric Kipre, Johnston and Fellows all scored to secure the 3 - 0 win for The Baggies.

The last time out for West Brom was against Hull. Fabio Carvalho opened the scoring for Hull but a goal from Darnell Furlong grabbed the 1 - 1 draw for West Brom.

Coventry, on the other hand, currently sit ninth in the Championship. In 34 games, Coventry have 13 wins, 12 draws and nine losses which leaves them on 51 points, only four points from Hull in the last Play-off place.

In their last five games in all competitions, Coventry have two wins, one draw and two losses.

Coventry went behind early with Romain Esse’s goal giving Millwall the lead. However, a brace from Haji Wright in the second half grabbed a 2 - 1 win for Coventry. The Sky Blues went behind again with Morgan Whittaker opening the scoring for Plymouth, but Ellis Simms equalised for Coventry just ten minutes later. Mickel Miller regained the lead for Plymouth but a 96th minute goal from Liam Kitching forced the 2 - 2 draw.

Simms scored the only goal of the game just six minutes into the second half to give Coventry the 1 - 0 win over Stoke. Coventry went behind yet again with Emil Riis Jakobsen giving Preston the lead in the first minute. Will Keane doubled Preston’s lead and an own goal from Bobby Thomas secured the 3 - 0 win for Preston.

The most recent outing for Coventry was against Maidstone in the FA Cup. Simms grabbed a first half hat-trick to give Coventry the 3 - 0 lead at halftime. Fabio Tavares then added two more in the closing stages of the game to secure the 5 - 0 win for Coventry, with Maidstone unable to manage a single shot on target in 30% of the possession.

This will be the 70th meeting between West Brom and Coventry, with the first coming back in 1937. West Brom have the better record in the fixture with 34 wins in comparison to Coventry’s 18 wins, with the other 17 games ending in a draw.
